Don't just toss your old phone accessories into the trash—there's now a more valuable way to dispose of them. As major brands roll out new smartphone models in the second half of the year, a wave of device upgrades is sweeping the market. When consumers purchase new phones, they often buy new protective cases and screen protectors, leaving the old ones to be discarded carelessly.

To promote responsible resource recycling, Jiesheng Communications, a chain telecom retailer, has launched the "Retire Your Old Case & Broken Screen Protector" program. By bringing old accessories to any of its stores across Taiwan, customers can instantly receive NT$200 in accessory shopping credits. This credit can be directly applied to purchases at any store. Additionally, participants will receive a bonus pack of six Jienarui tissue rolls.

The campaign has no eligibility barriers: all brands, phone models, sizes, materials, and even severely damaged items are accepted.

Jiesheng Communications warns that continuing to use accessories with minor cracks or yellowing can be risky. Cases and screen protectors serve as the first line of defense against impact. Once they develop cracks, bends, or discoloration, their protective capabilities are significantly reduced. Using them beyond this point not only fails to protect the phone during future drops but also risks users cutting their fingers on shattered glass protectors or scratching the phone’s original screen.

For broken glass screen protectors, the company emphasizes that they must not be thrown directly into regular trash bins. The sharp edges can injure waste collection workers. Customers are advised to wrap damaged protectors in newspaper or seal them in ziplock bags before bringing them to a store for safe recycling.
