Mitsui Fudosan's large-scale mixed-use commercial complex, 'Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport,' has officially launched in Fengshan, Kaohsiung, becoming the third LaLaport in Taiwan after Taichung and Nangang, Taipei. As scaffolding was gradually removed in early 2026, the pure white exterior of the massive building has been unveiled, with brand signage now installed. The mall spans a total floor area of 62,000 ping, planned as a 2-level underground and 6- to 7-level above-ground structure, surpassing the scale of Nangang, Taipei. Upon opening, it will become the largest LaLaport in Taiwan and the second-largest shopping center in Kaohsiung after Dream Mall.
Fengshan District in Kaohsiung has a resident population exceeding 350,000, making it the most populous administrative district in the city. However, it has long lacked a large-scale regional shopping center catering to all demographics. Located in the Fengshan Guotai redevelopment zone, 'LaLaport Kaohsiung' covers a site area of approximately 13,000 ping, with a store area of 21,000 ping.
In terms of spatial planning, the mall adopts 'URBAN GREEN NEST (Urban Green Nest)' and 'New Nexus of Kaohsiung' as its architectural design themes, featuring a low-rise, spacious layout with low-density zoning and extensive outdoor greenery and plazas. After opening, its scale will surpass that of E-Da World Shopping Mall in northern Kaohsiung and SKM Park Outlets in Qianzhen District, securing its position as the second-largest shopping center in Kaohsiung.
Among the first wave of announced tenants, the most notable is the immersive art museum 'ARTE MUSEUM' by South Korea's digital art team 'd’strict,' making its first permanent installation in Taiwan. The museum will center on the theme 'ETERNAL NATURE,' utilizing massive LED screens, 3D surround sound, and custom fragrances, while incorporating local cultural elements from Kaohsiung to create a five-sensory immersive experience. Additionally, Kaohsiung's leading dining group 'HANLIN CUISINE' has officially signed on to join, promising diverse culinary offerings in the future.
Regarding the opening schedule, Mitsui Fudosan Group stated that after completing the topping-out ceremony by the end of 2025, construction is now in full swing, with the earliest opening expected by the end of 2026 and the latest in the first quarter of 2027. The exact date will depend on the acquisition of occupancy permits and construction progress.
In terms of transportation, the site is located at the intersection of Ziyou Road and Guotai 2nd Road in Fengshan District, adjacent to the Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line's 'Fongshan West Station,' just one stop away from the Weiwuying National Arts and Culture Center. Once the MRT Yellow Line (Y18 Station) is completed, the area will become a dual-MRT interchange hub, with proximity to National Highway No. 1, creating a highly convenient transportation network expected to attract consumers from eastern Kaohsiung and Pingtung.
