Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple hosted the '2026 Global Fushe Charity Run' this afternoon (26th) at Sanchong Riverside Park, calling on the public to practice healthy living through running while integrating charitable grain donations to advance environmental sustainability and social care. Lin Yao-chang, Director of the New Taipei City Government Civil Affairs Bureau, attended the event on behalf of the city government, commending Fo Guang Shan for its long-standing contributions to public welfare, education, and environmental protection, and for consistently giving back to society through concrete actions that spread kindness.
Lin Yao-chang stated that Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple has long been committed to charitable causes, hosting the 'Winter Warmth Music Feast' for 12 consecutive years since 2014, donating welfare funds and essential supplies to support vulnerable groups. The temple has also actively promoted Fo Guang Scouts, life education, and character education to cultivate positive values among youth. During the pandemic, it donated防疫 supplies to police, firefighters, and medical units, and promoted reading in schools through the Yunshui Book Van, fully demonstrating the spirit of a religious organization serving the community and giving back to society.
Venerable You Guo, abbot of Jin Guang Ming Temple, said that Fo Guang Shan upholds the Fo Guang Hui International's concept of 'Environmental Protection and Mind Protection,' responding to the United Nations World Environment Day with the slogan 'You run, we donate rice.' The event integrates health, charity, and environmental sustainability, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging the public to jointly protect the planet and practice green living. For every 10 kilometers completed by participants, Fo Guang Shan will donate 1 kilogram of rice. The collected rice will be distributed to underprivileged groups and remote schools through the New Taipei City Government Social Welfare Department and local village leaders. Through this 'You run, we donate rice' model, each step becomes a force of care for the vulnerable, inviting more people to join the movement for environmental protection, health, and public good.
Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple has long integrated religious faith with charitable practice, caring for the underprivileged and promoting education while actively advocating sustainable development. Through the '2026 Global Fushe Charity Run,' it aims to unite the collective power of kindness in society, working together to build a healthy, eco-friendly, and happy living environment, injecting positive energy into the sustainable development of cities.
