Taipei City's municipal government is once again embroiled in controversy. Liu Yu-hua, a public relations contact from the Department of Public Works' Parks Division, has been actively responding to public criticism on Threads regarding tree-cutting and flooding issues in Taipei. In her replies, she not only defended the city government but also attacked opposition politicians, notably commenting that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui 'sadly looks like her father'—a remark that has drawn widespread backlash.

Liu has repeatedly lashed out at critics online, even referring to citizens as 'lowering Taipei's IQ,' sparking public outrage. Her comment about Su Chiao-hui was particularly criticized as 'appearance-based humiliation' and 'personal attack unrelated to policy.' Netizens condemned her behavior, accusing her of acting like an online troll and allowing political bias to infiltrate official duties.

In response, Su Chiao-hui stated in an interview that while she welcomes differing opinions, she draws the line at defamation, misinformation, and personal attacks. 'We are running a positive and uplifting campaign,' she emphasized, noting that voters are watching not just policy platforms but also the team's attitude.

When asked about the incident, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an merely replied, 'The Parks Department will issue a separate statement,' avoiding direct comment.

Meanwhile, Kuomintang (KMT) New Taipei mayoral candidate Li Shen-chuan responded on the morning of the 26th before campaigning at Puchieng Xinglong Market in Banqiao. He said, 'I saw in the media that the official wrote Su Chiao-hui looks like her father. But how is a daughter looking like her father an insult? My son looks just like me too.' His remarks were interpreted as defending the controversial statement.
