With the strong recovery of the tourism market, international and group travelers to Taiwan have surged, yet Taoyuan International Airport's arrival hall has long been plagued by disorder. Many travel agencies and hotel staff habitually use welcome signs, carry-on luggage, or personal belongings to occupy low walls near immigration exits in an attempt to secure prime positions. This not only obstructs passenger flow and damages the terminal’s appearance but has also frequently led to disputes over space.
To completely eradicate this issue, Taoyuan Airport Company has decided to take a firm stance, launching irregular inspections and awareness campaigns immediately, and announcing full enforcement of penalties starting August 1.
From now until July 31 is designated as the 'awareness period.' During this time, airport inspectors will conduct random checks and advise violators who place signs or pile luggage illegally, giving businesses a buffer to adjust their pick-up operations.
Starting August 1, enforcement will be strictly implemented. If pick-up staff continue to occupy wall spaces and fail to comply after on-site warnings, the airport will take strict action:
· Legal Basis: Enforcement under Article 119-3, Paragraph 1 of the Civil Aeronautics Act. · Fine Amount: NT$5,000 to NT$25,000 per violation. · Enforcement Measures: For severe disruptions or non-compliance, the airport will coordinate with the Aviation Police Bureau to forcibly remove violators from the terminal.
Taoyuan Airport Company reiterates that while providing quality pick-up service is important, it must not come at the expense of public passage rights. Travel agencies, hotels, and shuttle operators are urged to manage their on-site staff strictly to maintain order and the international image of the nation’s gateway, avoiding costly legal penalties.
