Global wealth is expanding rapidly, and the number of people with net assets exceeding one million U.S. dollars is rising sharply. According to the latest statistics, nearly one million new millionaires—individuals with net assets exceeding one million USD (approximately 30 million JPY)—were added worldwide in 2025. The United States led the world with over 440,000 new millionaires in just one year, accounting for nearly half of all new millionaires globally. Taiwan also made it into the global top 15, ranking 13th with approximately 9,864 new millionaires, indicating a steadily accelerating pace of wealth accumulation.

The U.S. added over 440,000 millionaires in one year—nearly half of the global total

According to a report compiled by Visual Capitalist, which analyzed data from 2024 to 2025 on the number of people gaining net assets over one million USD, the U.S. ranked first with 441,078 new millionaires. This is more than ten times the number in the UK, the second-place country, and means that nearly one out of every two new millionaires worldwide comes from the U.S.

The report attributes the rapid wealth growth in the U.S. to sustained strength in the stock market, high household investment participation rates, and overall stable economic growth, which have continuously expanded household asset sizes.

Europe claims six spots in the top 10—UK, France, and Spain follow closely

Following the U.S., several European countries also demonstrated strong momentum in wealth growth. The UK ranked second with approximately 43,000 new millionaires, France third with around 34,000, and Spain fourth with about 32,000. Italy and Germany also made it into the global top 10, showing that wealth continues to accumulate steadily in mature European markets.

Although no European country comes close to the U.S. in terms of new millionaire numbers, six of the top 10 spots are held by European nations.

Taiwan ranks 13th globally—nearly 10,000 new millionaires added

In Asia, Japan ranked fifth globally with approximately 31,000 new millionaires, while India followed closely with a similar number. South Korea added about 20,000 new millionaires, ranking 10th.

Taiwan ranked 13th globally with approximately 9,864 new millionaires, entering the list of countries with the most new millionaires despite its relatively small population. Additionally, China ranked 12th, Singapore 22nd, and Hong Kong 27th.

Two major trends in Asian wealth growth

The report notes differing patterns of wealth growth across Asian countries. India benefits from rapid economic development and the rise of emerging industries, continuously creating new high-net-worth individuals. In contrast, mature economies such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore primarily benefit from strong financial market performance, household asset appreciation, and long-term investment accumulation, steadily increasing their millionaire populations.
