Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua attended a gratitude banquet today (27th), joining distinguished guests at the newly developed 'Rongye Lake' themed area to enjoy a spectacular aquatic performance of indigenous song and dance. Magistrate Hsu commended the park’s 40 years of dedication to tourism development and the preservation of indigenous culture, highlighting its continuous innovation and transformation as one of Nantou County’s most iconic attractions and a key benchmark in Taiwan’s leisure industry. Consistently rated as a 'Superior-rated Recreation Area,' the park has made outstanding contributions to local tourism and economic growth. She expressed confidence that, under the management team’s ongoing innovation, the park will enter another exciting 40 years.
Magistrate Hsu noted that Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village has accompanied generations, serving as a shared memory for school field trips and excursions. Its ability to sustain operations for four decades is remarkable. Beyond preserving and promoting indigenous culture, the park has continuously enhanced its rides, safety management, and service quality. In recent years, through events like the Cherry Blossom Festival and hosting county government award ceremonies, the park has demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the community and advancing local tourism, significantly benefiting regional development.
Facing recent challenges in the domestic travel market, the park continues to invest in upgrades, including the newly launched 'Rongye Lake' themed zone and Taiwan’s first 360-degree panoramic valley-surrounded aquatic theater. This theater presents passionate performances showcasing indigenous cultural characteristics, welcoming international and domestic visitors and highlighting Taiwan’s diverse tourism appeal. Magistrate Hsu hopes that local tourism operators will work together to elevate travel quality and attract more international tourists to Nantou, enhancing its global visibility.
She also invited the public nationwide to take advantage of the 'Nantou Tourism Benefits Month,' encouraging visits to Nantou. From now until the end of October, anyone spending or staying in Nantou can enter a prize draw, with grand prizes including BMW and Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles. Upcoming events include the Taiwan Agriculture Expo in mid-August, the Sun Moon Lake 10,000-Person Swim in September, and the Nantou World Tea Expo in October. She welcomed visitors to experience Nantou’s rich cultural, natural, and tourism attractions throughout the year.
This year, marking its 40th anniversary, the park has once again broken new ground with the launch of the new indigenous tribe-themed zone 'Rongye Lake' and Taiwan’s first 360-degree panoramic valley-surrounded theater-style aquatic performance, 'Aquatic Theater.' Integrating Nantou’s mountainous landscapes, lake-stage performances, indigenous songs and dances, tribal rituals, and large-scale situational acts, it showcases the region’s rich cultural depth and natural features. This innovative format pioneers a new performance style for domestic theme parks, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.
In addition to the performances, the park has planned over 10 indigenous cultural experiences for this summer, including traditional weaving, mochi pounding, totem painting, xylophone playing, shaman blessings, archery, blowgun shooting, and glass bead DIY. These interactive activities allow visitors to deeply engage with indigenous culture, advancing both cultural preservation and tourism promotion. Multiple ticket discount programs are offered, covering all groups including the general public, indigenous people, and new residents, reflecting the park’s spirit of inclusivity and shared prosperity.
