After years of advocacy, the new post office in Beida Special District officially opened today (27th). Su Chiao-hui, legislative member and New Taipei mayoral candidate, attended the opening ceremony and stated, 'The population in Beida Special District continues to grow, increasing demand for postal services. Since receiving local feedback in 2018, I have worked closely with Legislative Member Wu Chi-ming to urge Chunghwa Post to establish a new post office. We are now pleased to deliver more convenient postal services to residents, marking another achievement in local public infrastructure.'

First integrated post office featuring retail, staff housing, and social housing

Su Chiao-hui pointed out that previously, postal services in Beida Special District were limited to a post office located within the campus of Taipei University. However, its operation hours aligned with school holidays, making it inconvenient for local residents. She emphasized that this prompted her to actively coordinate with Chunghwa Post to push for a new facility. She also expressed gratitude to Chunghwa Post for fully funding nearly NT$320 million to construct the new post office, fulfilling a long-standing community demand.

She noted that the newly opened Beida Special District Post Office not only features postal service counters on the first floor but also includes commercial storefronts, staff dormitories, and social housing units—marking Chunghwa Post’s first integrated facility combining postal, commercial, and residential functions. This innovative design enhances postal service capacity, maximizes public space efficiency, and further improves residents’ daily convenience.

Su Chiao-hui also expressed her appreciation to frontline postal workers. She stated, 'Postal workers have long shouldered the demanding responsibilities of mail delivery and customer service. That’s why I have consistently advocated in the Legislative Yuan for better treatment of postal staff.' Starting July 1 this year, Chunghwa Post has implemented the first phase of fixed salary increases, raising pay by NT$2,000 to NT$4,000 based on position. A further 4% raise is scheduled for next year, resulting in a cumulative increase of 6% to 10%, benefiting approximately 25,000 postal workers.

Su Chiao-hui added, 'Moving forward, I will continue collaborating with Chunghwa Post and the Chunghwa Post Union to secure better working conditions and benefits. At the same time, I will promote more public infrastructure projects that meet residents’ needs and elevate quality of life.'

The opening ceremony was also attended by Legislative Member Wu Chi-ming, New Taipei City council candidate Wu Sheng-han, Councilors Peng Yi-shu and Liao Yi-kun, and members of卓冠廷's service team, all celebrating the official launch of the Beida Special District Post Office together.
