New Taipei mayoral candidate Li Sichuan attended a municipal briefing in Luzhou this evening (27th), hosted by independent New Taipei City Councilor Li Weng-Yueh. Nearly a thousand local residents attended in strong support, with numerous neighborhood leaders and community representatives also present on stage. The venue echoed with chants of "Dongshuan" (a homophone for "elected").
Addressing grassroots concerns about local development, Li Sichuan stated that upon election, he will prioritize the construction of the Lushe Bridge and Luzhou Hospital, fulfilling long-standing community aspirations. His policy commitments were met with enthusiastic applause and cheers.
Li emphasized that the Lushe Bridge will be his top infrastructure priority. It will significantly reduce commuting times for local residents and, in the future, integrate with metro rail systems and Highways 64 and 65 to connect high-tech industrial zones such as Nansoft, Neihu Science Park, and Beitun Science Park to Luzhou, Wugu, Sanchong, Banqiao, and Tucheng. This will create an AI high-tech industry corridor, generating more and better job opportunities and promoting local employment for New Taipei's youth.
Regarding local healthcare needs, Li pledged to fully advance the construction of the Luzhou Hospital. Drawing on his past experience in planning and constructing multiple hospitals—including the New Taipei City Tucheng Hospital—he plans to replicate the successful Tucheng model using a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) approach to accelerate the hospital's development. The city government will lead land acquisition, transportation planning, and administrative coordination, while attracting large-scale medical systems to invest and operate. Priority departments will include emergency medicine, maternal and child health, pediatrics, cardiovascular care, and geriatric medicine. The hospital will be integrated with long-term care, rehabilitation, and community healthcare systems across the Sanying-Luzhou area to establish a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem.
On senior welfare, Li reaffirmed his "Senior Citizen Card Upgrade" policy. While New Taipei has already increased the card's points to 600, he pledged that after election, 300 of these points will be "EasyCard-enabled," allowing seniors to directly spend them at convenience stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies, as well as pay for medical services. This aims to make the policy more closely aligned with seniors' daily needs. Additionally, Li urged residents to support "those who get things done" and help re-elect outstanding councilors and neighborhood leaders with high vote margins, forming a solid foundation for the city administration's development agenda.
During the briefing, New Taipei City Councilor Li Weng-Yueh highly praised Li Sichuan. She stated that Li, an electrical engineering master who worked his way up from southern Taiwan, is highly capable and has successfully completed major engineering projects. Many of New Taipei's transportation developments bear Li's contributions, driving industrial growth and creating employment. If Li takes over as mayor, he will be the most suitable candidate for New Taipei.
Upon arrival, Li Sichuan was warmly surrounded by cheering residents chanting "Dongshuan." He personally presented zongzi (rice dumplings) to every neighborhood leader present, thanking them for their hard work at the grassroots level and demonstrating his determination to work hand-in-hand with local communities on development. As Li departed, a long line of residents waited to take photos with him. The short distance from the stage to the exit took over ten minutes to traverse, showcasing Li's immense popularity in the Luzhou area.
