In the Warring States period, Qin dominated with the vast Guanzhong Plain, Chu controlled half the land, and Qi prospered with the commercial wealth of Linzi. However, among the seven states, there was one country with a relatively small territory, even situated in the four-way battleground of the Central Plains. Wei's territory was not vast and was even considered small, yet it once dominated the other states in the early Warring States period, becoming the strongest at the time. Wei's ability to compete with larger states was due to four key strategies: pioneering systematic reforms, creating the elite military force 'Wei Wu Co', controlling the Central Plains' transportation hubs, and possessing strong agricultural and economic power. However, as reforms stagnated, talent was lost, and powerful rivals like Qin rose, Wei eventually declined and lost its hegemonic position.
