On April 28, Minister of National Defense Ku Li-hsiung, representing the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), exchanged honors with General Mashikilisana Fakudze, Commander of the Eswatini Defense Force, to recognize the deep military friendship between the two nations and demonstrate a firm commitment to further strengthening bilateral defense exchanges.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, the decoration ceremony was held at the Bo'ai Military Camp in Taipei on the morning of the 28th. Ku Li-hsiung first welcomed General Fakudze and his delegation with a military honor guard. Subsequently, Ku presented the 'Second-Class Order of Precious Tripod' on behalf of the ROC government to General Fakudze, who in turn awarded Ku the highest honor of the Kingdom of Eswatini, the 'Special Class Order of Distinguished Service,' representing King Mswati III, the Supreme Commander of the Eswatini Defense Force. The ceremony was conducted in a solemn and dignified atmosphere.

In his speech, Ku expressed appreciation for General Fakudze's dedication since assuming office in May 2022 to safeguarding Eswatini's national security and social stability, as well as his efforts in promoting military cooperation between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Kingdom of Eswatini. Ku also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for receiving the 'Special Class Order of Distinguished Service,' emphasizing that it symbolizes the strong military friendship between the two nations. He expressed confidence that, with General Fakudze's continued support, defense cooperation between the two countries will grow even closer.

General Fakudze noted that the close relationship between the two nations has evolved from political and economic cooperation into the realm of military assistance. He particularly expressed gratitude for the long-standing support provided by Taiwan's military in training the Royal Guard and ceremonial bands of Eswatini, as well as in offering various military courses that have significantly enhanced the professional capabilities of Eswatini's military officers. He acknowledged that these contributions have greatly supported Eswatini's efforts in achieving its defense readiness objectives. General Fakudze emphasized that the Eswatini Defense Force firmly believes the two militaries will continue to cooperate in more fields, further consolidating and elevating the bilateral partnership.
