New Taipei mayoral candidate and legislator Su Chiao-hui attended the groundbreaking ceremony today (28) for the '105 City Road Winding Section Improvement and New Road Construction Project,' stating that 105 City Road is a crucial transportation artery connecting Linkou, Bali, and Tamsui. However, certain sections have long suffered from narrow roads, numerous curves, and an elevation difference of up to 180 meters, which not only reduces commuting efficiency but also increases traffic risks.

Su pointed out that after years of advocacy, she successfully secured NT$4.656 billion in subsidies from the central government—accounting for nearly 60% of the total project cost of NT$8.219 billion—enabling the project to proceed smoothly. She emphasized that the improvements will significantly enhance commuting safety and regional transportation quality.

Premier Cho Jung-tai, Minister of the Interior Liu Shih-fang, legislator Lin Shu-fen, New Taipei City Councilors Lee Yu-hsiang and Cheng Yu-en, and council candidate Tai Ling-yu also attended the ceremony, jointly witnessing the official launch of the project.

Su explained that 105 City Road connects Provincial Highway 64, Highway 61, Highway 15, and National Highway No. 1, serving as a key transportation corridor linking the 'Sea-Air Dual Ports' of Taipei Port and Taoyuan International Airport. It is also a major route for residents of Linkou, Bali, and Tamsui.

The winding sections will be upgraded with elevated loop bridges to overcome the elevation differences, reducing conflicts between large trucks and passenger vehicles and significantly lowering the risk of traffic accidents. With the opening of the Danjiang Bridge in May this year, once the 105 City Road improvements are complete, it will become the fastest route between Tamsui, Bali, and Linkou, shortening commute times and enhancing connectivity between the Linkou 'New Taipei International AI+ Smart Park,' the Danhai New Town, and the Danhai Science Park, further driving industrial development and regional economic growth.

Su noted that the total budget for the 105 City Road improvement project is NT$8.219 billion. She expressed gratitude to the Executive Yuan for approving nearly 60% of the funding and thanked the New Taipei City Government team for their joint efforts. She emphasized that, just as she recently inspected the Tucheng Jincheng Interchange project with New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih, central-local collaboration can accelerate major infrastructure projects, allowing citizens to benefit sooner.

The 105 City Road improvement project will be implemented in three phases. Phase one, the 'Linkou A3 Planned Road New Construction Project,' managed by the Ministry of the Interior's National Land Management Agency, will officially open next week. Phase two, the 'Winding Section Improvement and New Road Construction Project,' which broke ground today, is scheduled for completion by September 2030. Phase three, the 'Bali-end Flat Road Widening Project,' is currently undergoing urban planning and detailed design by the New Taipei City Government.

Su emphasized that she will continue working with legislator Lin Shu-fen and local representatives to push forward the remaining phases, accelerating the full-line improvement of 105 City Road to build a safer, more convenient transportation network and enhance New Taipei City's overall competitiveness.
