Changhua County's science education prowess has dazzled the nation. The '66th National Science Exhibition for Elementary and Secondary Schools of the Republic of China' recently concluded, with Changhua County emerging victorious in fierce national competition, standing out among 450 entries to claim the highest honor: 'First Place Team Award for Counties with 10 or More Entries.' County Magistrate Wang Huei-mei held a special award ceremony during the expanded executive meeting on the 28th, commending the students for their dedication. She stated that winning the national team championship demonstrates the tangible results of the county's long-term commitment to foundational science education. She also expressed gratitude to the teachers for their tireless mentorship in nurturing students' potential, and to the students for their persistent experimental spirit, enabling them to shine on Taiwan's highest scientific stage.
According to the Department of Education, Wenkai Elementary School stood out in the elementary division, winning first place nationwide in the Chemistry category with their creative and practical research project 'BeanAmine Clean,' also receiving the MediaTek 'Infinite Possibilities' Award, showcasing exceptional logical thinking and experimental skills. In the junior high division, Yuandou School dominated the Earth Science category with their project 'Carbon Trace, Oyster Cycle,' earning first place nationwide through outstanding observational skills and comprehensive data, proving that seeds of scientific innovation are taking root across Changhua's townships.
Additionally, Hubei Elementary School delivered a steady performance in the Life and Applied Sciences (II) category, earning a National Commendation. Nanguo Elementary School received high praise from judges for their outstanding performance in Biology, winning the 'Spirit of Inquiry Award.' Yangming Junior High School demonstrated comprehensive scientific strength, securing third place nationally in both Biology and Life and Applied Sciences (III) (the latter also receiving the MediaTek 'Infinite Possibilities' Award), and earning a National Commendation in the highly competitive Mathematics category, fully showcasing their cross-disciplinary scientific excellence.
The county government emphasizes science education by investing funds and teaching resources to encourage schools to promote inquiry-based and hands-on learning, guiding students to identify and solve problems from daily life. Through organizing county-level science fairs and science carnivals, the government provides children with more platforms to express themselves and spark creativity. This brilliant performance at the 66th National Science Fair is not only a source of pride for Changhua but also the highest recognition of the scientific education capabilities of Changhua's teachers and students. It is hoped that more young talents from Changhua will continue to shine in the field of science in the future.
