Kaohsiung City Government continues to enhance social welfare services and announced two new convenience measures on the 29th. First, Senrong Construction Co., Ltd. donated a dedicated protection service vehicle to the Social Bureau’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center, strengthening response capacity for protective cases. Second, starting August 1, holders of senior citizen and love cards can renew their MeNGo monthly passes at service counters across all Kaohsiung MRT stations and at Qishan Transfer Station, significantly improving public transportation accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities.
Senrong Construction Supports Family Protection Center
On the 29th, Kaohsiung City Government held a donation ceremony for the protection service vehicle at the city hall plaza. Senrong Construction Co., Ltd. donated a dedicated vehicle to the Social Bureau’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center, demonstrating corporate social responsibility and commitment to protecting vulnerable groups.
Deputy Director Yeh Yu-ju of the Social Bureau stated that cases involving family violence and sexual assault have been increasing in recent years. Social workers frequently respond to emergencies, providing crisis intervention, medical escorts, shelter placement, home visits, and emotional support. The dedicated vehicle will significantly improve social workers’ safety and mobility, enabling more timely and comprehensive protective services.
Yeh expressed gratitude for the company’s commitment to social responsibility, emphasizing that public-private collaboration strengthens the social safety net. The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center will effectively utilize the protection vehicle to continue safeguarding citizens affected by violence. The bureau also urged the public: violence does not solve problems. If you experience domestic violence, call emergency number 110 or the protection hotline 113 for professional assistance.
Starting August, Senior and Love Cardholders Can Renew Monthly Passes at All MRT Stations
Additionally, to improve public transportation convenience for seniors and people with disabilities, the Social Bureau, Transportation Bureau, and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation jointly launched a service allowing senior and love cardholders to renew MeNGo monthly passes using social welfare points. Starting August 1, in addition to existing locations such as district offices and the Social Bureau, renewal of the NT$199 Kaohsiung Bus Unlimited Monthly Pass and NT$399 Kaohsiung Urban Commuter Monthly Pass will be available at service counters across all Kaohsiung MRT stations and at Qishan Transfer Station, greatly enhancing convenience.
The Social Bureau reminded cardholders who have already linked their MeNGo monthly pass to bring their ID, Kaohsiung Senior Citizen Card or Love Card, and MeNGo pass card to any MRT station service counter or Qishan Transfer Station to complete renewal. On the same day, consultation service counters will be set up at six MRT stations—R6 Kaohsiung, R10 Formosa Boulevard, R13 Aozihdi, R24 Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital, O7 Cultural Center, and O13 Dadong—to assist seniors with MeNGo membership registration and provide related咨询服务.
The Social Bureau stated that the city government will continue to enhance the quality of social welfare services through public-private collaboration and citizen-friendly measures, building a safer, more convenient, and more compassionate Kaohsiung—from protecting vulnerable groups to creating an age-friendly city.
