Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has recently called loudly for a no-confidence vote against the cabinet, and reports suggest several Kuomintang (KMT) legislators support the move. However, passing such a motion requires cooperation between the KMT (blue) and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP, white). With the TPP facing poor approval ratings and potential seat losses in upcoming elections, it is hesitant to cooperate.

Today (30), however, a report revealed that some KMT legislators are considering a proposal to jointly nominate party-list candidates with the TPP, offering the first five slots to the TPP as a gesture of goodwill. After winning seats, each party would return to independent caucus operations.

Political commentator Zhou Xuan dismissed the idea as "today's biggest joke." He questioned not only whether the TPP would accept, but whether the KMT itself could agree internally.

According to the China Times, an unnamed KMT legislator said that under current conditions, blue-white cooperation could pass the no-confidence motion. However, the TPP is concerned about losing seats in the next election, so the KMT has begun discussing cooperation plans. The KMT estimates it could win around 15 party-list seats, leading some to suggest offering the first five to the TPP.

Zhou Xuan responded sarcastically, calling the proposal absurd. "Are they crazy? Never mind whether the white camp agrees—can the KMT even accept this internally?" He pointed out that Han Kuo-yu, the current Legislative Yuan President, is ranked first on the KMT's 2024 party-list. "Which KMT legislator dares suggest giving up President Han's seat to the TPP? The KMT should clean house immediately. This is absolutely laughable."
