Changhua County's 115th Magistrate's Cup Table Tennis Tournament for Public Servants Kicks Off

The 115th Changhua County Magistrate's Cup Table Tennis Tournament for public servants officially opened on the morning of the 30th at the Changhua County Stadium, with County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei and Changhua County Sports Association Table Tennis Committee Chairman Councilor Chang Chin-kun performing the ceremonial first serve to launch the event.

During the opening ceremony, Magistrate Wang expressed special gratitude to the organizing body, the 'Changhua County Sports Association Table Tennis Committee,' for its meticulous planning, and to 'Changhua Arts Senior High School' for their assistance in venue setup. She also acknowledged the hard work of the referees and presented certificates of appreciation on behalf of the county government, conveying sincere thanks. Magistrate Wang further increased the voucher incentives to encourage all teams to make friends through sports and deliver outstanding performances.

Magistrate Wang Hui-mei stated, 'To live, we must move!' She emphasized that table tennis is a sport suitable for all ages, and that the county government organizes the Magistrate's Cup annually to allow public servants, often burdened with heavy workloads, to relax, develop exercise habits, maintain physical health, and thereby provide better service to the community. This year, a total of 46 teams and over 600 public servant participants from central agencies, state-owned enterprises, the county council, various government departments, schools, and township/city offices across the county gathered for the event—an increase of five teams compared to last year. Additionally, six teams of retired public servants enthusiastically participated, fostering camaraderie and skill exchange through friendly competition, strengthening team cohesion, and showcasing the vibrant spirit of a healthy public service workforce.

Councilor Chang Chin-kun, Chairman of the Changhua County Sports Association Table Tennis Committee, expressed gratitude for the strong support from Magistrate Wang and her administration, noting that participation in the annual Magistrate's Cup has steadily increased. He highlighted that table tennis is an excellent indoor sport unaffected by weather, and thanked Magistrate Wang for her on-site incentive boost, which encourages public servants to strengthen their physical health and improve work efficiency. He expressed hope that table tennis would inspire all public servants to stay active, safeguard their health, and achieve meaningful interaction and networking.

The county government's Personnel Office stated that it will continue to build a senior-friendly, healthy, and livable city, encouraging all citizens—whether currently employed or retired, male or female, young or old—to develop regular exercise habits and enjoy the health and joy that sports bring.
