The Central Weather Administration reports that Severe Typhoon 'Dolphin' is currently moving steadily in a northwest-westward direction. Although the typhoon may still intensify in the short term, it is expected to gradually weaken as it moves into higher latitudes and less favorable environmental conditions after the weekend. According to the latest meteorological data, Typhoon Dolphin's path has slightly shifted southward over the past few days, and it is now most likely to pass through the waters between Japan's Kyushu and northern Taiwan. It may come even closer to northern Taiwan's waters, and its movement requires continuous monitoring.
Typhoon Dolphin's Path Shifts South, Bringing It Closer to Taiwan – Expected to Approach Ryukyu Islands by Next Thursday
Huang En-hung, a forecaster at the Central Weather Administration, stated that Severe Typhoon 'Dolphin' is currently located more than 4,200 kilometers away from Taiwan, moving northwest-westward toward the southern waters of Japan at a speed of 24 kilometers per hour. While its intensity will continue to increase in the short term, it is expected to gradually weaken after entering higher latitudes over the weekend. It is estimated that the typhoon will approach the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands around August 6 (next Thursday).
Huang added that although the current forecast path primarily indicates a trajectory passing between Kyushu and northern Taiwan waters, due to a slight southward adjustment in the track, attention must be paid to its outer circulation effects starting next week. From next Tuesday, long-period swells are expected to gradually appear along the northern coast of Keelung, eastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula. Starting next Wednesday, the weather pattern will shift to northerly winds, and scattered brief showers will develop in mountainous areas of northern Taiwan.
Rainfall Trends Decreasing Daily! Cloudy to Sunny Conditions Across Taiwan from the Weekend
Regarding recent rainfall distribution, the Central Weather Administration stated that moisture levels across Taiwan will significantly decrease starting tomorrow. On tomorrow morning, isolated showers are expected in northern regions, while central and southern areas may still experience occasional localized brief showers during the day. Other regions will remain mostly cloudy, with afternoon rainfall shrinking to southern areas and mountainous regions.
By Saturday (August 1), overall moisture will further converge, with only occasional isolated brief showers in southern areas. Most regions will generally shift to cloudy to sunny conditions, with afternoon thunderstorms limited to mountainous areas. From August 2 to August 4 (Sunday to Tuesday), under the influence of the Pacific high-pressure system, stable cloudy to sunny weather will prevail across Taiwan, with only localized afternoon thunderstorms possible in mountainous areas.
