The Veterans Service Center of Miaoli County held the 'New Immigrant Life Adaptation Counseling and Happy Family Recognition' event on the 30th at Hongzao Restaurant in Gongguan Township, aiming to enhance new immigrants' life adaptation and promote multicultural exchange, while recognizing their dedication to family life. Deputy County Magistrate Qiu Lili, together with Service Center Director Hsieh Chun-hao, presented gifts and certificates of appreciation to six honored families, praising new immigrants for courageously overcoming cultural, linguistic, and lifestyle differences, actively integrating into society, and becoming silent contributors to Miaoli. The county government pledged to continue collaborating with relevant agencies to create a more comprehensive and welcoming environment, enabling new immigrants to live securely and pursue their dreams in Miaoli.

The event invited Deputy County Magistrate Qiu Lili, Deputy Director Chen Shih-sheng of the Indigenous Peoples and Ethnic Development Office, Gongguan Township Mayor Ho Tsai-hsin, Health Center Director Hsu Shao-yao, and representatives from organizations long supporting new immigrant affairs. Prior to performances, the county's Indigenous Peoples Office and the Miaoli County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency delivered promotional briefings on their services, covering life adaptation, healthcare, employment support, children's education, and access to welfare resources, aiming to assist new immigrant families in multiple aspects.

This year, the Veterans Service Center selected six happy families. Deputy Magistrate Qiu, Mayor Ho, and Director Hsieh personally presented gifts and certificates, congratulating each family. The honored new immigrants arrived in vibrant traditional attire, with family members present to share in the joy and honor, creating a warm and touching atmosphere.

Deputy Magistrate Qiu emphasized that although many new immigrants come from distant countries, once they form families in Taiwan, they gain a place of mutual love and support. Adapting to new environments, languages, and cultures while integrating into new families involves longing, challenges, anxiety, and hope. Yet these happy families prove that happiness is not the absence of difficulties, but the presence of companionship through hardships—this shared resilience makes Miaoli a warmer city.

Qiu added that the long-term dedication of new immigrants has made them essential members of Miaoli's extended family. The county government aims to collaborate with various agencies not only to provide diversified services and abundant resources but also to ensure every new immigrant can settle confidently, develop freely, raise happy children, and build fulfilling families.

Director Hsieh Chun-hao stated that the event included promotional sessions on education, employment, vocational training, veteran benefits, household responsibilities, the Elderly Care Platform, and the Green Channel program. He also advocated for gender equality and inclusive workplaces, successfully fostering multicultural exchange and enhancing new immigrants' sense of participation and belonging. Going forward, the center will continue collaborating with the county government, the Miaoli Immigration Service Station, and local veterans' associations to conduct life adaptation counseling and calls for broader societal support to build a welcoming, inclusive, and harmonious Miaoli community.
