With Father’s Day approaching, many people are struggling to decide what gift to give their dads. A member of the American-style warehouse retailer Costco originally planned to pick out a Father’s Day present at the store, but was overwhelmed by the wide selection of practical items—belts, electric shavers, coffee machines, water flossers, and hiking gear. After circling the aisles without making a decision, they left empty-handed and turned to the internet for help, sparking a wave of responses from fellow members.
The original poster wrote in the Facebook group 'Costco Product Experience – Honest Reviews' that they had only intended to browse for suitable Father’s Day gifts, but said, 'As I kept browsing, I couldn’t make a decision because there were too many choices.' The shortlist included a Levi's belt priced at 599 TWD, a Braun electric shaver at 3,699 TWD, a Nestlé capsule coffee machine at 3,399 TWD, a water flosser at 3,369 TWD, hiking poles at 1,149 TWD, and a sleep-support pillow at 599 TWD. With a budget of around 6,000 TWD, they hoped to select two to three items and asked fellow users for recommendations or user reviews.
The electric shaver received strong support, with many netizens saying, 'Go for the electric shaver—basically every man needs one.' Some users even cast votes: 'I vote for that Braun model—I’m using it myself,' with others adding that the price has recently dropped compared to before. The coffee machine also gained popularity. One user shared, 'We have the Nestlé machine at home—it’s really convenient if you don’t want to wait.' Another said, 'Capsule coffee machines are great now, with so many flavor options available.'
Hiking poles, water flossers, and the sleep-support pillow also had their fans. Comments included: 'If your dad hikes, hiking poles are a good choice,' 'If it were me, I’d want the sleep-support pillow,' and 'That pillow is actually really good.'
Beyond the items listed by the original poster, other netizens shared their own Father’s Day plans. Some planned to buy a soundbar so their dad could enjoy sports games without complaining about poor TV audio; others considered large camping tents, coolers, massage chairs, clothing, or gold. Some decided to buy ingredients and cook a special Father’s Day meal at home, while others opted to simply give a cash gift.
One commenter warned, 'When it comes to gifts, it’s best to decide in advance—otherwise, it’s really hard to choose.' Another joked, 'Last week, I went to pick out a Father’s Day gift, but ended up buying a bunch of things I wanted for myself.' It seems Costco’s extensive product range has become the sweetest of dilemmas when it comes to gift shopping.
