Motorcycle giant Yuehua recently notified owners of its electric scooter Ionex to renew their contracts, with users who originally had 'lifetime basic fee waiver' being asked to change their contracts. In response, Kuomintang legislator Wang Hongwei posted on Facebook pointing out that Yuehua has changed the battery usage fee to '100 yuan per kWh,' which is double the original 50 yuan. Wang Hongwei has sent a letter to the Consumer Protection Commission under the Executive Yuan, requesting them to take this matter seriously and contact affected owners to assist in protecting consumer rights.

Wang Hongwei stated that she has recently received many complaints from consumers of Yuehua electric scooters. In the past, Yuehua Company, in order to compete with the market leader GOGORO, launched the battery replacement service 'lifetime basic fee waiver' promotion. For early buyers, an 'early bird discount' was implemented, with an average fee rate of about 50 yuan per kWh.

How did Yuehua adjust the battery usage fee? Wang Hongwei mentioned that recently Yuehua unilaterally announced the adjustment of battery replacement service charges. For consumers enjoying the 'lifetime basic fee waiver': the company has implemented an extreme pricing for this type of consumer. After the contract period expires, the battery usage fee is changed to '100 yuan per kWh,' which is double the original 50 yuan.

Wang Hongwei pointed out that although the 'lifetime basic fee waiver' plan still exists in name, the actual battery usage fee has significantly increased. Therefore, many owners have also sent letters to her office, saying that they decided to purchase the scooter because of the low fee and 'lifetime basic fee waiver' and other promotions. Now, after the contract expires, they must sign a new plan to be able to ride the electric scooter.

Wang Hongwei mentioned that the Consumer Protection Commission pointed out that the originally promoted 'lifetime basic fee waiver' promotion has become virtually ineffective due to the new contract content, causing the cost of using the vehicle to increase significantly. This may involve issues of contract fairness, market competition, and consumer rights. It is a major issue of legal contracts and credibility towards consumers by the Yuehua motorcycle company.

Wang Hongwei stated that since there are many owners distributed across various counties and cities nationwide, she has sent a letter to the Consumer Protection Commission under the Executive Yuan, requesting them to take this matter seriously and contact affected owners to assist in protecting consumer rights.
