'Girly Air Force: The Secret of Mermaid Island' is not a healing animation that will leave audiences feeling lighthearted as they exit the theater. The first half indeed has elements of tourism, food, singing, and Tu Tu's antics, with characters like Girly Air Force and Xiao Baomao still cute enough to make you want to hug them. However, as the truth about Mermaid Island comes to light, the movie quickly shifts from a fun vacation film to a dark fairy tale, leaving audiences with a question that even adults may not be able to answer: When the person who made a mistake did not act out of malice, and the victim harms more innocent people in their quest for revenge, who has the right to judge who is the bad guy? The movie is adapted from the highly discussed 'Siren Arc' from the original work, with a runtime of approximately 100 minutes. The story begins with a suspiciously good flyer. Girly Air Force and her crew, lured by high bounty rewards and limited ramen and desserts, head to a seemingly sunny island, only to gradually discover that both the islanders and Siren have hidden parts of the truth. Taiwan will release the Japanese version on July 31, 2026, and the Chinese dubbed version will be released on August 7.
