The results of the 31st Council and Supervisory Board election of the Taipei Bar Association have been announced. Although Taiwan People's Party (TPP) chairman Huang Kuo-Chang did not register as a candidate, his name appeared in the vote count after receiving three votes, sparking online discussion. Media commentator Chan Ling-Yu posted on Threads, sarcastically stating, 'What does 3 votes even mean? You can't even gather a full table for hotpot,' and added, 'Legal professionals understand legal professionals best—this score is brutally honest.' Former TPP Central Committee member Chang Yi-Shan also shared the results on Facebook, mocking Huang for receiving only three votes.
Chang Tong, a spokesperson for the TPP, responded under Chan's post, pointing out that Huang Kuo-Chang had no candidate number, indicating he did not officially register to run. She criticized the public for rushing to ridicule without understanding the election system or the list details, saying bluntly, 'Don't you even know what that means?'
According to the official results from the Taipei Bar Association, Lin Chun-Hung received the highest number of votes with 2,031 and was elected to the Council, with a total of 21 members elected. The top alternate candidate was attorney 'Hsiao Gao,' who received 240 votes. Besides Huang Kuo-Chang's three votes, attorneys Lin Chih-Chun and Lu Chiu-Yuan each received two votes, while former TPP legislator Huang Shan-Shan and Ko Wen-Je's defense lawyer Cheng Shen-Yuan each received one vote.
Huang Kuo-Chang had previously expressed dissatisfaction over former TPP chair Ko Wen-Je's involvement in judicial cases. In late March this year, Huang completed rejoining the bar association and re-registered to resume his legal practice. Although he did not register to run for the council, some members wrote in his name, which is why his name appeared in the results.
