Taiwan's aviation strength has once again received international recognition. The 2026 Air Passenger Experience Association (APEX) annual awards have been officially announced, with major global airlines competing across key service metrics. EVA Air from Taiwan secured the global 'Best Seat Comfort' award thanks to its superior cabin space and design. Meanwhile, South Korea's Korean Air won the 'Best Cabin Service' award for its meticulous and high-quality service.
How are these million-flight ratings calculated? What lies behind APEX's authoritative evaluation system? As a key global benchmark for airline service quality, APEX awards are entirely based on real passenger experiences. According to foreign media California Post, the evaluation leverages data collected through the popular travel app TripIt, aggregating anonymous feedback from nearly 600 airlines, over 1 million flights, and millions of passengers worldwide. Ratings use a five-star system, assessing core aspects such as cabin comfort, cabin service, dining options, and in-flight entertainment, providing a comprehensive reflection of genuine consumer experiences.
In the global category awards, Emirates Airline won 'Best In-Flight Entertainment', Qatar Airways received 'Best Food & Beverage Service', and Delta Air Lines took home 'Best Wi-Fi Service'.
Focusing on the Greater China region, EVA Air demonstrated exceptional popularity, winning the comprehensive 'Best Airline in Greater China' award. China Airlines stood out for its refined service quality, earning the 'Best Cabin Service in Greater China' honor. Cathay Pacific excelled in hardware innovation, securing both 'Best In-Flight Entertainment in Greater China' and 'Best Wi-Fi Service in Greater China'. Xiamen Airlines claimed 'Best Food & Beverage Service in Greater China', while China Eastern Airlines received 'Best Seat Comfort in Greater China'.
Reviewing actual passenger feedback on EVA Air, users commented: 'Even in economy class, the seats aren’t overly cramped, my legs could stretch out, and compared to other airlines I’ve flown, the seating is very comfortable. The in-flight meals were also quite good, and the thoughtful menu card made me feel respected.' Another noted: 'The space is not only spacious but also private and comfortable, with refined and delicious food. The flight attendants’ service in economy class is already far better than other airlines.' A first-time flyer on a new aircraft said: 'The seat was more spacious and comfortable than expected, and the meals didn’t fall short of expectations.' Others praised: 'Excellent service, and the departure flight’s seat was spacious and comfortable. The window no longer requires manual closing; instead, it uses mirror-based dimming technology, allowing passengers to enjoy the outside view even under strong sunlight—this is fantastic.' Additional feedback included: 'The aircraft is new, the cabin seats are clean and comfortable. A pleasant flying experience. Flight attendants are friendly and attentive.' On long-haul routes, passengers appreciated not only the 180-degree flat beds for a good night’s sleep but also the flight attendants’ warm service, gourmet meals and fine wines, complimentary RIMOWA overnight kits, and pajamas and slippers designed by Jason Wu. One passenger summed it up: 'I really enjoy flying with EVA Air. Even in economy class, the seats are spacious, not to mention the rich audiovisual entertainment and generous meals. Of course, the flight attendants’ friendly service goes without saying. Whenever possible, I always try to fly with EVA Air.'
