French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to step down in May 2027. During his tenure, he has already visited China four times, with the most recent visit in December 2025. Simultaneously, Franck Paris, who was Macron's trusted advisor on African affairs and France's representative to Taiwan, specifically reaffirmed in his farewell speech in July the joint statement by the UK, France, and Germany in mid-June, which opposed China's unilateral changes to the status quo in the waters east of Taiwan.
