In recent years, after the Pentagon designated certain Chinese memory suppliers as having ties to the Chinese military, Apple and other memory chip buyers have kept their distance from these firms. Yangtze Memory (YMTC) has also been added to the U.S. 'Entity List,' commonly known as the trade blacklist.
