Volkswagen Taiwan officially launched the second-generation T-Roc today (31st), introducing the 48V eTSI mild-hybrid system across the entire lineup for the first time. Not only has the exterior and interior been fully redesigned, but the body dimensions have also been enlarged, increasing the rear trunk capacity to 475 liters. With cutting-edge tech features such as IQ.LIGHT Matrix headlights, a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, and Park Assist Plus, the new T-Roc targets the urban crossover SUV market.
The T-Roc is offered in two variants: the 280 eTSI Style Design and the 280 eTSI Style Design Night Black Edition. After government trade-in incentives and cargo tax reductions, the prices are NT$1.198 million and NT$1.218 million, respectively. The T-Roc R is expected to be introduced to the domestic market next year.
First-time introduction of 48V mild-hybrid boosts both fuel efficiency and performance
Steffen Knapp, President of Volkswagen Taiwan, stated that the all-new T-Roc continues the coupe-like crossover SUV positioning, with comprehensive upgrades in powertrain technology, space, digital cockpit, and safety features. The first-time adoption of the 48V eTSI mild-hybrid system aims to deliver a smoother and more efficient daily driving experience.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder eTSI turbocharged gasoline engine, paired with the ACT Active Cylinder Management system, 48V mild-hybrid technology, and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, producing 150ps of maximum power and 25.5kgm of peak torque. The average fuel consumption reaches 17.7km/L. The 48V system provides up to 50Nm of auxiliary torque during acceleration, enhancing smoothness during start-up and re-acceleration, while maintaining fuel efficiency. Additionally, a minimum turning radius of 5.55 meters ensures agile handling in urban alleys and parking environments.
Larger body, 475L trunk, upgraded interior quality
Beyond the exterior adopting Volkswagen’s latest family design language, the new T-Roc has increased in length by 12cm and wheelbase by 3.9cm. Rear legroom has improved by approximately 3cm, and the trunk capacity has been expanded by 30 liters to 475 liters, further enhancing practicality for family and leisure use.
The cabin features extensive soft-touch panels and urban-textured materials, with the first-time inclusion of Varenna sport leather seats. Front seats offer electric adjustment, memory, welcome function, heating, and pneumatic lumbar support, while rear seats also include heating. A three-zone electronic climate control system further enhances ride comfort.
In terms of practicality, the new model adopts integrated door handles, and relocating the gear shifter to the steering column frees up more central storage space. It also features a wireless phone charging pad and a maximum 60W USB Type-C charging port, meeting modern vehicle usage demands.
Digital cockpit fully upgraded with 12.9-inch display and Chinese voice assistant
Digitalization is another key focus of this facelift. The new T-Roc comes standard with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch Discover Pro central touchscreen, integrating the latest MIB4 infotainment system and a Chinese intelligent voice assistant. Drivers can control navigation, climate control, and various vehicle functions via voice commands.

A new digital control knob has been added to the center console, allowing quick switching between driving modes, ambient lighting, and audio settings, improving operational convenience and immersive experience.
IQ.LIGHT Matrix headlights featured, safety features further enhanced
Exterior-wise, the new T-Roc introduces IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlights, combined with illuminated front and rear badges and a贯穿-style positioning light. The rear features an LED 3D geometric sequential dynamic taillight, significantly enhancing overall visibility and technological appeal.
Safety technology has also been upgraded, including Park Assist Plus advanced parking assistance, Area View 360-degree surround view, Front Cross Traffic Assist with braking support, and newly added central SRS airbag, Exit Warning departure alert, driver attention alert, and anti-theft alarm, further strengthening driving protection.
In addition to the standard model, Volkswagen Taiwan also launched the 280 eTSI Style Design Night Black Edition, featuring exclusive Flame Red paint, 18-inch Torino black wheels, blacked-out trim, black roof rails, and blacked-out rear badges. The interior includes a black headliner and dark privacy glass, targeting consumers who prefer a sportier style.
