The 2026 Taiwan Food Festival kicked off today (31st) at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, with the 'Taiwan Gourmet Pavilion'—organized by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Affairs—once again becoming the centerpiece of the event. It brings together 32 representative food, beverage, and gift brands, including Michelin-listed restaurants, Bib Gourmand recommendations, 500 Pan, and 500 Sweet.

Through four exhibition zones—'Classic Delicacies,' 'Taste of Taiwan,' 'Refreshing Beverages,' and 'Gourmet Souvenirs'—the Pavilion comprehensively showcases Taiwan's culinary charm, from street food and regional specialties to innovative drinks and premium pastries. It invites domestic and international visitors to experience Taiwan's most iconic food culture in one place.

The Department of Commerce emphasized that food is not only a sensory experience but also a vital window into understanding Taiwanese culture. By connecting the food, tourism, and local industries, the initiative aims to elevate the visibility of unique brands and continue positioning Taiwan's cuisine on the global stage.

Coinciding with the festival opening, the '2026 Original Vegetable Bento, Premium Hot Pot, and Taiwan Pastry' selection awards ceremony was held to honor outstanding operators who demonstrate innovation, quality, and market competitiveness.

The 'Original Vegetable Bento' category, centered on health and sustainability, selected 36 distinctive entries that creatively use local, seasonal ingredients. These bentos balance nutrition, flavor, and convenience, responding to the growing global trends of healthy eating and green consumption.

The beloved hot pot culture saw 30 brands selected for the 'Premium Hot Pot Carnival.' This year introduced a new 'Good Product Category,' expanding the scope to include soup bases and processed hot pot items, highlighting the industry's diverse advancements in product development, processing technology, and brand management.

The highly anticipated 'Taiwan Pastry' selection, themed 'Floral Essence, Ultimate Pastry Art,' attracted over 100 pastry brands. Ultimately, 23 exceptional entries were chosen. Participating brands skillfully integrated flowers, tea aromas, and local ingredients, combining traditional pastry craftsmanship with modern design aesthetics. This infusion of creativity breathes new life into classic souvenirs and enhances the market distinctiveness of Taiwan's pastry brands.

The Department highlighted that cuisine is the warmest and most culturally expressive industry. Moving forward, it will continue to identify promising Taiwanese food brands through thematic selections, brand marketing, exhibition promotions, cross-industry collaborations, and tourism integration—stimulating domestic consumption and local economic growth.

The agency aims to create a 'people in, products out, revenue in' industrial model, attracting more domestic and international tourists to explore and savor Taiwan. This will elevate the global visibility of Taiwanese food brands, positioning Taiwan's cuisine as a key ambassador for city tourism and cultural diplomacy.

The 'Taiwan Gourmet Pavilion' runs from July 31 to August 3 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Visitors can sample regional specialties and popular souvenirs from across Taiwan. On-site, a home delivery service allows guests to send their favorite Taiwanese flavors nationwide, sharing authentic tastes with family and friends.
