During holidays and long weekends, Xueshan Tunnel on National Highway 5 is often congested, causing delays for travelers between northern Taiwan and Yilan. Recently, a net user proposed separating vehicles based on the last digit of their license plates (odd or even) to reduce peak traffic. While this could theoretically halve the number of vehicles during peak hours, many users argue that the real problem lies with slow-driving vehicles (turtle cars). Other proposed solutions include stricter speed regulations and the introduction of dynamic pricing systems to disperse traffic.
