International authoritative mobile network research firm Opensignal has released its latest Taiwan Mobile Network Experience Report. This study collected real-world measurement data from April 1 to June 29, 2026. The results reveal that Taiwan's three major telecom operators demonstrated distinct strengths across various performance metrics.
Chunghwa Telecom won 12 out of 16 evaluation categories, including 9 outright wins and 3 shared awards, making it the operator with the most awards this period.
In terms of transmission speed and coverage, Chunghwa Telecom swept all four speed-related awards for both overall and 5G networks. Data shows that Chunghwa Telecom's 5G download speed is 47% faster than other operators, while its 5G upload speed maintains a lead of approximately 25%. In coverage, Chunghwa Telecom's traditional strengths continue to shine, earning top marks for both general and 5G coverage, demonstrating its infrastructure capabilities and reach in densely populated areas.
For users prioritizing stable, lag-free connections: Taiwan Mobile surged to first place in two key metrics.
Taiwan Mobile performed exceptionally well in this assessment, increasing its award count from 4 to 6. The standout was its focus on connection quality stability. Taiwan Mobile made significant improvements in scores for reliability and consistency of quality, securing first place in these areas. Additionally, Taiwan Mobile ranked third globally in 4G and 5G on-device availability, showcasing strong competitiveness in network infrastructure.
Regarding improvements in connection quality, Taiwan Mobile CEO Lin Zhi-chen stated: "When consumers choose telecom services, they value not only speed but also connection stability across different usage scenarios. As innovative applications like AI real-time Q&A and video generation become increasingly popular, the importance of network quality continues to rise." Lin added that the company's 5G users' average monthly data usage has grown 15% year-on-year, and the company will continue investing in hardware infrastructure to meet daily digital demands.
Can you always get a 5G signal? Far EasTone maintains its lead in 5G availability
Beyond speed and stability, whether users can consistently receive a 5G signal is another crucial experience factor. In this Opensignal evaluation, Far EasTone once again ranked first in the 5G availability metric. This metric primarily observes the proportion of time that users with 5G devices and service plans can actually detect and connect to a 5G signal during everyday smartphone use.
Overall, the latest report data shows Taiwan's three major telecom operators each leading in different areas. Chunghwa Telecom excels in speed and coverage, Taiwan Mobile leads in connection stability and reliability, and Far EasTone holds an advantage in 5G signal availability time, providing consumers with clearer reference points when choosing service plans.
