To help youth build positive views on love, marriage, and family values, the Nantou County Family Education Center, in collaboration with the China Youth Corps Nantou County Committee, has launched the 'Loving Nantou – Meeting YOU & ME' pre-marriage education camp. This program uniquely combines pre-marital education with leisure travel, local culture, and distinctive industries, creating a holistic experience that blends learning, interaction, and deep cultural immersion. It guides unmarried youth to explore self-awareness, improve communication skills, and cultivate empathy and responsibility amidst Nantou’s natural beauty, laying a solid foundation for a fulfilling life.
Nantou boasts rich mountainous landscapes, specialty agriculture, and diverse cultural heritage, making it an ideal destination for deep travel and slow tourism. This year’s event centers on the theme 'Education Meets Travel, Travel Meets Happiness,' featuring two locally inspired pre-marriage growth camps. These programs encourage youth to step outside classrooms and into nature, using travel to explore Nantou and interaction to connect with others. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants engage in authentic exchanges, experiencing how happiness begins with meaningful encounters.
The first session, 'A Brew of Destiny: Happiness Together,' took place yesterday (2nd) at the Guoxing Cultural and Creative Park. Known as the 'Hometown of Premium Coffee,' Guoxing Township hosted a full-day program including park tours, coffee culture lectures, hands-on pour-over coffee experiences, a romantic lunch date, team-building games, afternoon tea exchanges, and relationship development workshops. Participants strolled through lush greenery, sipped specialty coffee, and embraced the charm of Nantou’s slow-living lifestyle. Through natural interactions, they built connections and experienced the heartwarming atmosphere where 'travel makes meetings more beautiful.'
The Nantou County Family Education Center emphasizes that pre-marital education goes beyond imparting knowledge about marriage—it focuses on emotional intelligence and relationship management. By using experiential learning in natural, relaxed settings, the program helps youth develop respect, active listening, cooperation, and communication skills, enhancing emotional wisdom and responsibility to build stable, happy partnerships in the future.
The event also integrates local culture, leisure tourism, and specialty industries, encouraging youth to deeply explore Nantou’s beauty and experience the charm of mountain-town slow travel. This initiative promotes local tourism and youth engagement, realizing a triple-win vision of 'education, tourism, and local revitalization.' It embeds pre-marital education into daily life while creating valuable opportunities for cultural immersion, community connection, and personal growth.
The second session, 'Banana Buddies: Happiness Together,' will be held on October 4th at Ji Yuan Guo Leisure Farm. Unmarried youth aged 20 and above are encouraged to register and join this journey into rural Nantou. Discover the countryside, make new friends, grow through interaction, and meet your better self in this beautiful mountain city. Together, let’s write a heartfelt story of love, marriage, and lasting happiness.
