New Taipei mayoral candidate and Legislator Su Chiao-hui visited the first phase of the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin MRT Line (Wanda-Zhonghe Line) today (3rd) to attend the Taipei-New Taipei joint government's inspection of mainline dynamic testing results. She took the test train for the first time, traveling from Juguang Station to Liancheng Jinhe Station, to understand the latest progress of the project. She stated that she will continue to urge the project to proceed on schedule, hoping to complete the dual-city rail network as soon as possible and improve transportation convenience for the Zhonghe, Tucheng, and Shulin areas.
Promoting Undergrounding of High-Voltage Cables on the Tucheng-Shulin Line and Removing Construction Fencing by Year-End
Su Chiao-hui pointed out that in 2018, she successfully secured approval from the Executive Yuan to allocate a total budget of NT$55.5 billion for Phase II of the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin MRT Line (Tucheng-Shulin Line). However, due to the pandemic and international circumstances, raw material prices surged dramatically, causing multiple bidding failures for construction contracts. She continuously coordinated with central and local authorities and lobbied the Executive Yuan to revise the project budget, ultimately securing an increase to a total budget of NT$77 billion, allowing the project to move forward.
Su said she recently inspected the construction site of Contract CQ890 on the Tucheng-Shulin MRT Line, checking on the undergrounding of high-voltage power cables. Since 2020, she has repeatedly convened meetings and conducted field inspections with Taiwan Power Company, the New Taipei City MRT Bureau, and the Shulin District Office, successfully advancing the undergrounding of high-voltage cables along the route. This not only helps improve construction quality but also reduces construction risks and accelerates progress. She will continue monitoring the project's advancement so residents can soon enjoy convenient and safe MRT services.
She noted that overall construction progress on the Wanda-Zhonghe Line has already exceeded 80%. Mainline dynamic testing began in May this year. Once all trains are delivered, automated driving tests will commence, with full-line dynamic testing scheduled for the first half of next year to confirm system safety and operational stability.
Su highlighted that during construction, extensive fencing was erected around Liancheng Jinhe Station, Zhonghe Senior High School Station, and along Jincheng Road, causing inconvenience to residents. Local communities have long hoped for early restoration of road access. She expressed gratitude to the New Taipei and Taipei city governments for their efforts to expedite work, with plans to remove construction fencing around MRT stations by the end of this year, gradually restoring road access and living environments.
Su emphasized that once the Wanda-Zhonghe Line and Tucheng-Shulin Line are completed sequentially, they will further connect the Taipei-New Taipei MRT network, drive industrial development and upgrade living functions along the corridor, and provide citizens with more comprehensive, safe, and convenient public transportation services.
Other attendees included Legislators Wu Chi-ming and Chang Chih-lun, New Taipei City Councilors Chang Chia-ling and Chang Wei-chien, and New Taipei City Council candidate Wu Sheng-han, who also came to inspect the latest progress of the project.
