Looking for a cool and fun summer destination for families? The 2026 Taoyuan Haike Season launches grandly at the Yong'an Conch Cultural Experience Park in Xinwu District! Now in its 11th year, this event not only upgrades to the new 'Haike24' immersive exhibition—allowing visitors to create personalized Hakka fisher avatars using AI scanning—but also features the much-anticipated 'Mibao Family Run' in late August, combining thousand-person net pulling, Star Binyue concerts, and the Haike 8 Scenery stamp collection to deliver Taiwan’s one-of-a-kind marine Hakka cultural experience.
This year, the permanent 'Haike24' exhibition debuts at the Yong'an Conch Cultural Experience Park, centered on the theme 'A Day in the Life of a Maritime Hakka.' It uses immersive panoramic projection and digital interactive technology to recreate traditional lifestyles such as stone weir fishing and Pengdu net-pulling. Visitors can use on-site AI scanning to generate their own personalized Hakka identities, deeply experiencing the charm of digital culture. The exhibition also leverages the spatial advantages of the 'Landscape Art Festival,' transforming the coastal stretch from Xinwu to Guanyin into a stage where art and history converge.
This year’s Haike Season deeply integrates the unique characteristics of Xinwu and surrounding areas, launching multiple dynamic activities suitable for the whole family:
- Mibao Family Run: Known as Taiwan’s most vibrant and lively family marathon, it will be held in late August. Deputy Mayor Su Chun-pin will participate for the fourth time, leading participants to enjoy scenic coastal views while running. - Traditional Haike Experiences: Includes ancient fishing methods like 'Thousand-Person Net Pulling' and 'Hu Bu Xiang Lang' stone weir construction, along with nature-connected micro cycling tours. - Summer Music and Stamp Collection: Features the 'Haike Carnival' and 'Star Binyue Concert,' and collaborates with local associations and regeneration hubs to launch the 'Haike 8 Scenery' stamp rally, linking together local cultural and natural landmarks.
Taoyuan Deputy Mayor Su Chun-pin mentioned that during this year’s visit to the Shihü Mazu Cultural Festival in Xinwu’s Ojian, he coincidentally encountered renowned writer Liu Kexiang guiding friends through Xinwu’s cultural landscapes—an encounter that highlighted the charm of Haike culture as a treasured cultural asset of Taoyuan.
The city government has specially adopted a 'Three-Part Promotion of Haike Culture' as this year’s theme: deeply uncovering local historical stories; inviting historians, writers, and artists to reinterpret cultural meanings; and integrating exhibitions, landscape art, cultural experiences, and signature events to allow the public to personally walk into and experience Xinwu. Su emphasized, 'Culture should not be static display—it should be a living, firsthand experience.'
This year’s exhibitions and experiences are primarily centered at the Yong'an Conch Cultural Experience Park and surrounding coastline. The new permanent 'Haike24' exhibition is free to visit, while popular limited-time events such as the late-August Mibao Family Run, thousand-person net pulling, and micro cycling tours require advance registration due to limited capacity.
