As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, gift-giving is no longer just about conveying blessings—it's also an opportunity to show support. To help expand market access for local disability welfare organizations, groups, and sheltered workshops, the Changhua County Government held a joint promotional sales event titled "Lighting Mid-Autumn with Love" this morning (4th) in the county hall courtyard. Eight local disability organizations, groups, and sheltered workshops showcased their unique gift boxes. County Magistrate Wang Huei-mei attended to support products made by people with disabilities and invited multi-talented entertainer Kang Kang to join the event, urging the public and businesses to support these groups through concrete actions.
Magistrate Wang expressed gratitude to Kang Kang for his on-site support and immediately placed orders—purchasing NT$10,000 worth of each of the eight gift boxes, totaling NT$80,000. These will be gifted to individuals who have previously supported or helped her. She also encouraged others to purchase the boxes, participate in charity, spread love, and "light up the Mid-Autumn Festival with love."
Wang Huei-mei emphasized that as the Mid-Autumn Festival nears, the best gift is one that touches the heart. She recommended products made by children from eight disability institutions and sheltered workshops in Changhua County—ideal for gifting or personal use, and a meaningful way to show compassion. She thanked the staff at disability institutions for their dedication in helping people with disabilities overcome challenges and develop vocational skills. She also expressed appreciation to entertainer Kang Kang for his support, as well as nine other artists (including Bai Yun, A-Ben and Xu Xiao-ke, Mi Ke-bai, Zheng Zhong-yin, Chen Zhi-qiang, Yang Xiu-hui, A-Bu, Ma Guo-bi, and Wu Zun) who recorded promotional videos to support the cause.
Early orders come with special discounts. Each Mid-Autumn gift box not only conveys seasonal greetings but also serves as strong encouragement for individuals with disabilities, supporting their stable employment and independent living. The event features a variety of specially priced gift boxes, including the "Xi Le True Love Gift Box" from Hsi Lo Orphanage, the "Golden Melon Gift Box" from Ci En Sheltered Leisure Farm, the "Moonlight Walk Gift Box" from Ci Sheng Jen Ai Institute, the "Kennar Mixed Gift Box" from Kennar Bakery, the "Cosmic Imagination Gift Box" from Xiao Ling Ding Ai Qi Er Care Association, the "Local Pineapple Pastry Gift Box" from Friends of the Rehabilitated Association, the "Chen Bing-chen Gold Award Coffee Cultural Gift Box" from Ai Jia Workshop, and the "Moonlit Golden Prosperity Gift Box" from Le Xuan Ran Sheltered Workshop.
Each box is handcrafted step by step by individuals with disabilities, representing not only their professionalism and dedication but also their passion for work and hopes for the future. The county government invites businesses, government agencies, organizations, and local residents to make a compassionate choice this Mid-Autumn Festival by prioritizing gift boxes from Changhua’s disability institutions and sheltered workshops.
Councilor Liu Hui-juan, speaking on behalf of the council, thanked the county government team for strongly supporting the marketing of Mid-Autumn gift boxes from eight local disability institutions and sheltered workshops, joining hands to "light up the Mid-Autumn with love." She noted that many individuals with disabilities and "slow flyers" (children with developmental delays) have gained confidence through careful training in loving environments, learning baking and packaging skills, and producing high-quality products. She expressed gratitude to Magistrate Wang and her team for building an excellent marketing platform, quoting the saying, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Purchasing these gift boxes not only conveys warmth and helps a family but also helps individuals with disabilities find life goals and self-worth. She sincerely invited the public to take advantage of the early-bird discount and place orders to support these individuals.
Entertainer Kang Kang expressed gratitude to Magistrate Wang for the invitation, allowing him to perform and participate in this charitable event. As a father of two, he deeply empathized with the struggles and efforts of these children with disabilities and slow flyers. As a public figure involved in charity, he said his biggest fear is encountering organizations that lack authenticity. However, after seeing the county government’s direct involvement and visiting the site, he was deeply moved and decided, "I won’t just lend my name—I’ll also lend my money."
The Social Affairs Bureau noted that this year’s event specially invited nine artist friends to film unboxing charity videos. Leveraging celebrity influence, these videos promote the carefully crafted Mid-Autumn gifts from local disability organizations. The videos were premiered at the press conference, aiming to raise public awareness of the efforts and value of people with disabilities, allowing gift-giving during the festive season to also convey compassion.
The Changhua County Government hopes this joint promotion will create a ripple effect of love, encouraging more private enterprises, government agencies, organizations, and citizens to respond through charitable purchases. This way, Mid-Autumn blessings can not only reach homes but also become a warm force supporting stable employment and independent living for people with disabilities.
For years, the county government has continuously promoted employment support and social inclusion for people with disabilities, striving to make their products more visible and recognized through diverse methods. As the Mid-Autumn Festival is a key gifting season, the public is encouraged to add one more option when choosing gifts—supporting local disability groups and sheltered workshops—so that consumption itself can become a force for good.
