Uniqlo Group (2912)'s subsidiary, Uniqlo Jiajia, has approved the operational adjustment plan for the BEING sport business division at its board meeting. All BEING sport and BEING fit locations in Taiwan will operate until 11 PM on September 2, and gym and fitness room services will cease from September 3. In the future, the health business will focus on BEING Spa, while SPA services will continue as usual.
To minimize the impact on members, Uniqlo Jiajia will arrange staff from August 3 to September 2, daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, to assist with refunds or transfer procedures at each location.
What are the transfer plans? Uniqlo Jiajia has partnered with Health Factory to arrange staff from August 3 to August 9 at each BEING sport venue to assist members with transfers. Members of BEING sport and BEING fit who join Health Factory's annual membership can enjoy 'no processing fee,' 'no membership fee,' and '3 months free.' Unused private training courses can also be transferred to Health Factory for continued use. Members who do not wish to transfer can apply for a refund by September 2.
How has the fitness business performed recently? Uniqlo Jiajia operates 7 BEING sport and 2 BEING fit locations. According to financial reports, the revenue for 2025 was 4.52 billion yen, with a net loss of 1.72 billion yen and a per-share loss of 114.79 yen. The net loss for the first half of 2026 was 735.14 million yen, which is an expansion of the 653.45 million yen loss from the same period last year.
What does this adjustment represent? After this operational adjustment, Uniqlo Jiajia's BEING sport and BEING fit will end their fitness services, while BEING Spa will continue normal operations. This also marks the official exit of the Uniqlo Group from the gym club business, which it has operated for over 20 years.
