The Taichung City Government Education Bureau held the '115th Academic Year Taichung City Public and Private Senior High and Junior High School Principals Conference' on the 5th at the International Conference Hall of Providence University. Deputy Mayor Lai Shu-Hui attended to encourage participants, joining approximately 130 principals from public and private high schools and junior high schools across the city to jointly discuss education policies and exchange school management experiences.
Deputy Mayor Lai stated that principals are vital leaders in school development and key drivers in implementing education policies. She expressed gratitude for the principals' long-term dedication to education, emphasizing their professional leadership and thoughtful management in creating safe, friendly, and hopeful learning environments. The city government will continue to support school development by providing higher-quality educational resources to cultivate future talents with international perspectives, technological literacy, humanistic care, and sustainability awareness.
The Education Bureau noted that this year's conference included education policy briefings, operational reports, and panel discussions. Additionally, Ms. Lin Fang-Yan, Chairperson of the Fong Shih Foundation for Food Culture Education, delivered a keynote speech, guiding principals to reflect on the multiple values of education, humanistic care, and sustainability through reading, food culture, and international experience exchanges. Dr. Lo Chia-Lin from Taichung Anshin Hospital also conducted a mental and physical stress-relief session, helping principals learn stress management and self-care techniques to enhance their well-being and leadership effectiveness amid busy administrative duties.
This year's conference adopted a 'centralized meeting with divided site visits' format. The senior high school group visited Google's Banqiao Office and New Taipei Municipal Taishan Senior High School in New Taipei City, gaining insights into AI technology applications and smart education development. The junior high school group traveled to Hsinchu City to visit the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA), the Hsinchu Science Park Exploration Hall, and Hsinchu Municipal Yu-Hsien and Fu-Li Junior High Schools. Through exchanges on technology education and school operations, participants broadened their educational perspectives and deepened cross-county collaborations.
The Education Bureau emphasized that in the face of rapidly changing educational environments, principals must not only stay abreast of education policies and technological trends but also shoulder critical responsibilities in school innovation, curriculum leadership, and team management. This conference, through specialized seminars, well-being support sessions, and cross-regional field visits, aims to enhance principals' professional competencies, expand their educational horizons, and implement innovative ideas into school management and teaching practices. This will continuously improve the quality of education in Taichung City and collectively build happy, inclusive, and sustainable campus environments.
