TSMC's Chiayi Plant in Turmoil? Prehistoric Human Remains Unearthed, Followed by 2 Deaths and 5 Severe Injuries – Contractor Takes Desperate Measures to Ward Off Bad Luck

TSMC's CoWoS advanced packaging plant has moved into the Chiayi Science Park, but in 2024, prehistoric human skeletal remains were accidentally unearthed during construction. Despite being rushed to hospital, she was pronounced dead. - October 1, 2025: A 40-year-old subcontractor worker suffered electric shock from 20,000 volts of high voltage, resulting in extensive burn injuries across his body. - March 2026: Three separate incidents occurred, including foot fractures and finger crush injuries.

According to reporting by Sanlih News Network, to stabilize morale, contractors urgently held a blessing ceremony and installed statues of Dizang Wang Bodhisattva, Tudigong, and Guan Gong on-site for protection. Coinciding with the Lunar Birthday of Guan Sheng Emperor, the plant hired a glove puppetry troupe to perform live on June 6, praying for the safe and smooth continuation of construction.
