Miaoli County Government has actively served as a resource integration platform, successfully brokering a cross-industry collaboration between 'Achang Clean Sheltered Workshop' and 'Cheng Loong Corporation.' Together, they revitalized the idle campus space at Wu-Rong Elementary School in Dahu Township, applying recycled paper materials and circular reuse concepts to create bookshelves, tables, chairs, decorations, and installations, thereby restoring value to the underutilized space.
Deputy County Magistrate Lai stated that sheltered workshops have long been vital employment support hubs for people with disabilities, yet they face challenges such as operational difficulties, relatively isolated environments, and limited success in transitioning to open employment. Advancing sheltered employment requires joint efforts from government, businesses, and civil society. Therefore, the county government will continue to act as a resource-matching platform, connecting enterprises with public welfare resources to help sheltered workshops explore diverse development opportunities. The goal is not only for people with disabilities to 'have jobs,' but also to enable them to leverage their expertise, accumulate work skills, and build confidence in varied workplace settings.
This collaboration between Achang Clean Sheltered Workshop and Cheng Loong Corporation is not only a concrete action toward corporate ESG and sustainable development, but also breathes new life into idle spaces through resource sharing and innovative cooperation. It further provides people with disabilities with expanded platforms to showcase their talents and value. Going forward, the workshop will also collaborate with Taian Guanzhi Hot Spring Resort on housekeeping services, helping individuals with disabilities enter the tourism and hospitality sector by learning standardized room preparation skills, thus creating more diverse and meaningful job roles where they can excel.
Achang Clean Sheltered Workshop Director Liu Shih-Yi emphasized, 'Public welfare is not just about donations—it's about creating opportunities. Sustainability is not just environmental protection—it's about ensuring that every person striving to live is seen and valued.' She hopes this collaboration will inspire more enterprises to engage in public welfare and local revitalization, jointly building an inclusive and sustainable Miaoli community.
