The Republic of China Armed Forces began the live-force drills of the 'Han Kuang 42 Exercise' today (5th), lasting ten days and nine nights. The Engineer Company under the Hualien Defense Command executed obstacle deployment around the Beipu Anchorage area as ordered, installing multiple layers of concertina wire and steel caltrops. They also coordinated with local government and civilian resources to borrow wave-dissipating blocks, reinforcing the strength of defensive obstacles to enhance delay and denial effects against enemy vehicles and personnel infiltration.
The Second Theater Command stated that in addition to using standard and existing materials to erect concertina wire and steel caltrops for multi-layered obstacle deployment, troops also integrated civilian transportation capacity to conduct lifting operations of wave-dissipating blocks. This strengthens the area’s delay and denial capabilities and improves overall combat effectiveness.
The Second Theater Command emphasized that, amid the rapidly evolving nature of modern warfare, units are not only continuously enhancing professional training but also actively integrating local government and civilian resources. This ensures maximum combat power during wartime, demonstrating firm determination and capability to protect the homeland.

Meanwhile, in the Penghu region, the First Theater Command conducted critical infrastructure protection drills at the Chianshan Power Plant. In response to simulated enemy harassment and sabotage of key facilities, response units mobilized immediately upon command and rapidly established security perimeters, validating command and control as well as contingency response capabilities.
The First Theater Command reported that upon receiving orders, response units swiftly mobilized and advanced with combined forces to their mission positions. They deployed troops and firepower according to the facility and surrounding environment, conducting perimeter patrols and protecting critical infrastructure to prevent infiltration and sabotage by enemy special operatives.
The First Theater Command stressed that through this live-force drill, units further reviewed critical infrastructure protection mechanisms and reinforcement procedures, enabling personnel to become proficient in task assignments and response actions. This strengthens the security of key targets and continuously enhances the defensive resilience of the entire region.
