Fuying University of Science and Technology's Department of Health and Beauty has once again achieved remarkable success on the international stage. Faculty and students recently participated in the '25th WBAA World Beauty Arts and Design International Competition' and the '2026 WBA Global Triple Challenge Global Aesthetics On-site Competition' in Korea. Facing over a thousand competitors from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan, the team secured four gold, seven silver, and two bronze medals, along with the Best Creative Fragrance Award and the Brand Special Award. This not only showcases the strength of Taiwan's health and beauty education but also marks the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea's Wonkwang Digital University, deepening international cooperation and exchange.
Upon returning, the team was received and commended by President Lin Jazz. President Lin stated that following the department's recent success in Malaysia, where they won 42 awards, this latest achievement in Korea solidifies their status as a consistent winner in international beauty competitions. He emphasized that the team has brought honor to the university and demonstrated Taiwan's professional excellence in beauty education.
President Lin highlighted that the Department of Health and Beauty leverages resources from the College of Medicine and Health, integrating core courses such as basic medicine, beauty management, scientific skin care, aromatherapy, traditional Chinese medicine aesthetics, and health care. Faculty members with extensive industry experience lead students in competitions, building their international competitiveness through hands-on experience. Furthermore, the successful MOU signing with Wonkwang Digital University will promote student exchanges, advanced studies, and academic collaboration, expanding global perspectives.
Department Chair Chen Chung-I noted that international competitions are not only about technical skill but also a demonstration of educational outcomes. Receiving global recognition was deeply encouraging, and she believes learning has no age limit.
Huang Chen-Ying stated that she had prepared for years for the fascia roller and massage therapy competitions, persisting through recurring injuries. Earning international certification has strengthened her resolve to continue refining her skills.
Lin Kuan-Cheng mentioned that this was his first time competing in an international perfume formulation contest, which posed significant challenges in fragrance layering and creative presentation. Gaining recognition from international judges has boosted his confidence in future perfumery creations.
Huang Hsiao-Ling emphasized that the health and beauty industry is evolving toward integration of aromatherapy, aesthetic design, health care, and brand innovation. Participating in international competitions equips students with world-class practical experience, enabling them to pursue careers in medical aesthetics centers, chain spas, beauty brands, and startup studios, opening diverse professional pathways.
