Interest in Kaohsiung's social housing continues to rise. The Daliao Social Housing, located adjacent to the Kaohsiung MRT Daliao Station, officially opened applications on August 6. On the first day alone, both online system inquiries and in-person consultations at district offices exceeded 100 cases, reflecting high public interest. In response, district offices have urgently deployed additional staff to assist with applications.
The Kaohsiung Housing and Urban Renewal Center announced that starting August 10, applications will also open for 43 scattered units at the Kaizhuan Qingshu Social Housing project, providing citizens with more secure and affordable housing choices.
Daliao Social Housing is offering a total of 384 units—from studio apartments to one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts—along with 16 senior-friendly units. Applications are open from now until August 25. The housing complex is directly connected to the Daliao MRT Station, offering the convenience of "home right after exiting the station." Rents are divided into four tiers based on household income, starting from a minimum of NT$4,410 per month.
To support young adults forming families, the quota for married couples and households with children has been increased to 40%. The development also plans to include childcare centers and social welfare facilities, aiming to create an age-inclusive living environment.
In response to rising rental demand during graduation season, 43 scattered units at Kaizhuan Qingshu Social Housing will be available for application from August 10 to 31. These units range from one- to three-bedroom layouts, with rents starting from NT$3,590 per month (including management fees). The site is approximately a 10-minute drive from Kaohsiung Medical University, National Kaohsiung Normal University, and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. It is also close to TRA Minzu Station, light rail lines, and the underground railway green corridor, making it highly accessible and expected to attract students and young professionals.
Both Daliao and Kaizhuan Qingshu social housing projects share the same eligibility criteria: applicants must be adult nationals with household registration in Kaohsiung, or currently studying or employed in the city, with no residential property owned by any household member within Kaohsiung City, and an average monthly household income per person not exceeding NT$59,395.
Applications can be submitted online, in person, or by mail. For detailed rental information and application procedures, visit the Kaohsiung City Social Housing Online Application Information Website or contact the Kaohsiung Housing and Urban Renewal Center for further details.
