After Typhoon Bavi moved away, New Taipei City's riverside water recreation facilities quickly resumed normal operations. The New Taipei City Riverbank Engineering Management Office announced that immediately after the typhoon warning was lifted, inspection, cleaning, and equipment testing were initiated. Once environmental safety and water quality standards were confirmed, five popular water play areas—Sanchong Bear Monkey Senhai World Water Park, Xindian Sunshine Playground, Xizhi Interstellar Playground, Xinzhuang Wengzidi Wetland Park Water Pool, and Chongyang Huayang Water Park—were gradually reopened to welcome families during the summer vacation.

The management office emphasized that thanks to well-established flood prevention preparations and recovery mechanisms, even after typhoon impacts, riverside recreational functions can be restored in the shortest time possible, balancing disaster safety with public leisure needs, allowing residents to safely enjoy summer water activities.

Huang Yu-bin, Director of the Riverbank Engineering Management Office, stated that riverbank areas serve dual purposes of flood control and recreation. Ahead of each typhoon, the city government follows standard flood prevention procedures, including early removal of facilities, securing equipment, and preventive closures to minimize damage and risks from wind and rain.

Once the typhoon alert is lifted, the office immediately begins site restoration, conducting comprehensive inspections across all water play facilities—including environmental cleaning, water quality testing, mechanical and electrical equipment checks, and safety assessments. Only after confirming all facilities meet usage standards are they reopened to the public, ensuring parents and children can enjoy safe water play.

Huang noted that in recent years, the city has continuously improved its flood response and maintenance management systems. Through a three-phase approach—preparation before, response during, and rapid recovery after—the impact of typhoons on facilities has been effectively reduced, and closure periods shortened, ensuring uninterrupted summer water activities.

With summer vacation in full swing, these riverside water play areas have attracted many families seeking relief from the heat.

Sanchong Bear Monkey Senhai World Water Park and Chongyang Huayang Water Park combine large-scale water play structures, game zones, and expansive grassy areas, making them popular destinations for family water play and picnics. Xindian Sunshine Playground integrates play equipment with water features and is especially favored by families. Xinzhuang Wengzidi Wetland Park Water Pool offers a comfortable water play environment and has become a top local choice for summer relaxation. Meanwhile, Xizhi Interstellar Playground attracts visitors in the evenings with its nighttime water sprays and lighting ambiance, providing a cool retreat.

Ms. Wang, who visited Bear Monkey Senhai World Water Park with her two children, said she initially worried it might take time to reopen after the typhoon, but was pleasantly surprised by the swift resumption. She praised the clean environment and fully functional water facilities, noting her children had great fun upon arrival. She recommended the site as an ideal summer destination where children of different ages can freely play amid large play structures, water zones, and green spaces.

The management office stated that Chongyang Huayang Water Park, Bear Monkey Senhai World Water Park, the butterfly-shaped water channel area at Sunshine Playground, and the Mercury Water Zone at Xizhi Interstellar Playground will be open daily (except Tuesdays for equipment maintenance and cleaning) until the end of August. From September onward, they will operate only on weekends and national holidays.

Water spraying hours are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily, with Xizhi Interstellar Playground extending operations until 8:00 PM to offer evening water play experiences.

Additionally, the water pool at Xinzhuang Wengzidi Wetland Park will be open from Tuesday to Sunday during summer, with Monday reserved for equipment maintenance. From September, it will also switch to weekend and holiday-only operation. The pool operates from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM daily, with water spraying every 30 minutes for 10 minutes.

The office reminds the public that visitor numbers increase during summer. Parents should accompany children, follow on-site safety rules, monitor weather changes, and apply sunscreen and stay hydrated to ensure a safe and refreshing summer experience.
