To express gratitude for fathers' long-term contributions to families and society, the Nantou County Government hosted the '2026 Nantou County Model Father Commendation Event' on the morning of June 6 at the Jingdian Grand Hotel in Yuchi Township. Under the theme 'Gratitude for Paternal Love – Letting Love Lead,' 16 outstanding fathers from various townships across the county were honored. Each father was warmly welcomed by family members who presented flowers, then ascended the stage one by one to receive commemorative plaques and blessings from County Magistrate Hsu Shu-Hua, recognizing their hard work and sacrifices.

This year’s event featured special arrangements: model fathers stayed overnight at the hotel the night before and attended a welcome banquet, allowing these usually hardworking fathers to enjoy quality time with their families ahead of Father’s Day. On the ceremony day, they entered via a red-carpet 'starry avenue' entrance, receiving applause, cheers, and celebratory poppers from relatives and guests, making them the shining stars of the event. The county government also invited the Sun Moon Lake Tea Culture Promotion Association to set up a gratitude tea ceremony titled 'Fathers Above All,' where each honored father was respectfully served tea during the award presentation.

Attendees included county councilors Wang Chiu-Shu and Shih Ching-Long, Nantou City Mayor Chang Chia-Che, Yuchi Township Mayor Liu Chi-Fan, several township representatives, public office delegates, and village chiefs.

In her speech, Magistrate Hsu stated that this year’s 16 honorees include 13 general-category and 3 disabled-category fathers, each with unique life experiences and admirable personal stories. Whether working in agriculture, business, or public service such as police or civil roles, all have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly. Many have long engaged in public welfare, community mediation, and volunteer services, extending their familial love into broader social compassion—truly commendable. She expressed hope that future generations will inherit these elders’ noble values, appreciate fathers’ efforts, and through each father’s story, let society recognize the strength of family and the enduring values of filial piety, gratitude, responsibility, and dedication.

The honored fathers come from diverse backgrounds but collectively embody diligence, filial devotion, responsibility, and selfless contribution. The awardees are: Mr. Chang Feng-Chiao (Lugu Township), Mr. Lin Chuan-Zhi (Zhushan Township), Mr. Huang Kun-Fa (Yuchi Township), Mr. Yu Shui-Shun (Puli Township), Mr. Yu Ju-Fu (Puli Township), Mr. Chen Ying-Kang (Nantou City), Mr. Liao Chao-Mao (Mingjian Township), Mr. Quan Shu-Tang (Xinyi Township), Mr. Liu Hong-Ren (Yuchi Township), Mr. Weng De-Sen (Nantou City), Mr. Tsai Gu-Bin (Shuili Township), Mr. Chuang Jen-Jie (Jiji Township), Mr. Wu Kun-Xiang (Zhongliao Township), Mr. Ku Shan-Tien (Guoxing Township), Mr. Lin Jin-Sheng (Ren’ai Township), and Mr. Hung Si-Qin (Caotun Township).
