The U.S. defense security analysis platform War on the Rocks recently published an article by two researchers from the RAND Corporation, revealing that Chinese military researchers proposed the 'Large-Scale City All-Domain Disabling War' operational concept in the internal journal Military Science. This concept aims to blockade and paralyze Taipei, eroding the will of the people and military to resist, and demonstrates the strategic considerations of the Chinese military towards Taiwan. RAND Corporation political scientist Howard Wang and senior policy researcher Nathan Beauchamp-Mustafaga analyzed an article by Chinese military researchers Major General Cheng Jining, Lieutenant Colonel Li Hengrui, and Lieutenant Colonel Wang Haiyuan from the PLA Academy of Military Science and the People's Armed Police Command Academy. The article outlines the concept of 'Large-Scale City All-Domain Disabling War', which involves cutting off Taipei's supply of resources and information, destroying its command systems, and undermining the morale of the people and military. Wang and Beauchamp-Mustafaga note that while this operational concept has not yet been adopted by the military, it provides valuable insights into Chinese military strategy. However, they also acknowledge that the details of these strategies are limited and that it is unclear whether they will be implemented.
