In response to global net-zero transformation trends and increasing decarbonization requirements from international supply chains, the Kaohsiung City Government continues to integrate policies, technologies, talent, and advisory resources to help businesses enhance their carbon reduction capabilities and accelerate low-carbon transitions.
On the 6th, the Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau hosted the '2026 Net-Zero Transformation Technology Exchange' at the Net-Zero Academy. The event invited 10 net-zero technology service providers, including Deloitte, TECO Electric & Machinery, and Delta Energy, to share solutions across three core themes: carbon accounting, carbon reduction, and carbon neutrality. Topics included carbon management, AI-powered energy management, smart power dispatch, equipment energy savings, and green electricity planning. One-on-one professional matchmaking sessions were arranged to assist companies in adopting suitable decarbonization technologies based on their specific needs.
According to the Economic Development Bureau, the exchange not only provided policy and technical information but also emphasized substantive connections between business needs and technical services. Over 30 pairs of companies and technology providers engaged in in-depth discussions covering carbon management, smart energy, energy efficiency improvements, and green power planning. Service providers offered free diagnostics, expert consultations, and preferential packages to help businesses transform decarbonization needs into actionable improvement plans, shortening the technology adoption timeline.
Chen Yi-liang, Deputy Director of the Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau, stated that with the implementation of Taiwan's carbon fee system, the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and rising decarbonization expectations from global brands along supply chains, energy efficiency and product carbon content have become critical indicators of corporate competitiveness. The city continues to support businesses through the 'Kaohsiung City Net-Zero Business Acceleration Platform,' offering services such as enterprise diagnostics, talent training, technology exchange, supply-demand matching, and resource referrals. This year, the city has further launched the 'Kaohsiung City Corporate Low-Carbon Transition Demonstration Program,' lowering barriers for businesses to adopt energy-saving and carbon-reducing equipment and technologies through subsidies and demonstration mechanisms, thereby enhancing operational resilience and international competitiveness.
During the exchange, several technology service providers shared practical experiences. Digiwin Digital Intelligence emphasized that beyond completing carbon inventories, enterprises must integrate carbon data with financial information, using AI to monitor emission hotspots in real time and track reduction performance to build credible digital carbon management capabilities. Taiwan Carrier showcased high-efficiency HVAC systems, smart controls, and energy-saving solutions to help reduce corporate energy consumption. Yung-Hong Intelligent introduced AI No-Code technology capable of analyzing factory equipment operation data to optimize energy-intensive systems like chillers and air compressors, improving overall energy efficiency. Delta Energy proposed an integrated approach combining green power trading, digital energy management, and energy-saving diagnostics to help businesses gradually establish comprehensive decarbonization pathways.
Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital, one of the participating enterprises, noted that companies often face challenges such as fragmented technical information, difficulty comparing solutions, and unclear investment returns when advancing decarbonization efforts. They found the face-to-face discussions with diverse technical teams highly beneficial in clarifying improvement directions and increasing the feasibility of future technology adoption and collaboration.
The Economic Development Bureau stressed that net-zero transformation has become a crucial factor in enhancing corporate competitiveness and industrial upgrading. The city will continue integrating central and local resources through the 'Kaohsiung City Net-Zero Business Acceleration Platform' to connect policies, technologies, talent, and funding. This holistic support enables businesses to progress step-by-step—from needs assessment and technology matching to demonstration validation and implementation of improvement measures—establishing a structured low-carbon transition pathway. By partnering with industries to achieve net-zero sustainability, Kaohsiung aims to strengthen its competitive advantage within the global supply chain.
