In the 2026 Taichung mayoral race, the Kuomintang (KMT) has fielded legislator Chiang Chi-chen to succeed incumbent mayor Lu Shiow-yen, while the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has nominated legislator Ho Hsin-chun. According to the latest Apollor public opinion poll, Chiang holds 38.2% support, leading Ho's 24.1% by a 14.1 percentage point margin. The poll results show Chiang's overall support at 38.2%, compared to Ho's 24.1%, with Chiang leading by 14.1 points. In terms of vote expectation, Chiang leads with 46.6%, far ahead of Ho's 16.2%, a gap of 30.4 percentage points. Cross-analysis reveals that among voters aged 20 to 29, Chiang leads with 25.8% support versus Ho's 24.5%, a narrow 1.3-point lead. In the 30 to 39 age group, Chiang leads with 36.7% support compared to Ho's 23.1%, a 13.6-point advantage. Where does Ho Hsin-chun lead? The poll shows Ho has 32.6% support in her long-held constituency of Dali and Taiping (7th District), but Chiang narrowly leads with 33.3%, a 0.7-point gap, indicating intense competition. In Chiang's home district (8th District: Fengyuan, Dongshi, Xinshe, Shigang, Heping), he commands 50.3% support, far exceeding Ho's 21.3%, a 29.0-point lead. Ho leads only in the 1st District (Dajia, Qingshui, Wuchi, Waipu, Dajian) with 30.6% support, compared to Chiang's 18.2%, a 12.4-point lead. Chiang leads in the remaining seven legislative districts. Gender analysis shows 42.7% of male voters support Chiang versus 23.4% for Ho, a 19.3-point lead. Among female voters, 34.0% support Chiang and 24.7% support Ho, a 9.3-point gap. The poll was conducted by Apollor Marketing & Market Research Co., Ltd., from August 3 to 5, 2026. The survey targeted Taichung residents aged 20 and above. Using telephone interviews (landline sampling), the effective sample size was 1,077. At a 95% confidence level, the margin of error is ±3.0 percentage points.
