With the 2026 local elections approaching, the Kuomintang (KMT) held a press conference today (7th) to bolster its propaganda capabilities amid an increasingly heated political race. Chen Yi-hsin, Director of the KMT's Department of Communications and Publicity, announced a new roster of central spokespersons: Taipei City Councilor Liu Tsai-wei, New Taipei City Councilor Lu Chia-kai, Tainan City Councilor Tsai Tsung-hao, and Kaohsiung City Councilor Chen Li-na.

The highlight of the press conference was the long-anticipated debut of the party's AI spokesperson, 'Cheng Hsiao-Wen,' modeled after the KMT party chair.

Chen Yi-hsin first introduced Liu Tsai-wei, highlighting her background as a former TVBS news anchor and host, currently pursuing a graduate degree in political science at National Taiwan University. He emphasized her professional policy scrutiny and sharp oversight, noting that her commitment to speaking for the people has remained unchanged from her days in broadcasting to her current role as a councilor.

Liu Tsai-wei then introduced Lu Chia-kai, praising his deep roots in local communities and his expertise in education and public infrastructure, backed by a doctorate in education. She also mentioned that both had previously served as spokespersons at Hou Yu-ih's campaign headquarters, marking a reunion in their joint efforts.

Lu Chia-kai expressed his hope that the upcoming nine-in-one local elections would help the KMT achieve seamless coordination between central and local levels, leading to a sweeping victory in regional races. He introduced Kaohsiung's Chen Li-na as someone who believes politics should return to its simplest form and that high-quality planning can guide Taiwan's municipal governance toward a better future.

Chen Li-na expressed her enthusiasm for strengthening the party's presence in southern Taiwan, stressing the importance of swiftly and accurately conveying southern voices. She expressed hope that the Department of Communications could contribute meaningfully to the southern campaign and achieve strong results. She then introduced Tainan's Tsai Tsung-hao, describing him as the strongest force in Tainan with solid grassroots service, fiercely advocating for seniors' rights and youth futures.

Tsai Tsung-hao thanked the director for the appointment, emphasizing the importance of integrating communications teams across northern, central, and southern Taiwan to create a comprehensive network connecting the KMT from central to local levels. As the youngest councilor in the Tainan City Council, he stated, "Age is not a decoration but the courage to break political frameworks," and declared, "2026 is about delivering justice to local communities and the people; 2028 is about promising Taiwan its best future."

Tsai then unveiled the main attraction of the press conference: the official debut of 'Cheng Hsiao-Wen,' the AI spokesperson developed by the Department of Communications to symbolize the KMT's entry into the AI era.

In her self-introduction, Cheng Hsiao-Wen stated that as an AI spokesperson, she can take on multiple forms and will represent the KMT in speaking for the people, safeguarding livelihoods, and upholding the values the Republic of China must defend. "We will not be vague on what needs clarity; we will not retreat on what must be protected. Our appearance may change, but our beliefs remain clear and unwavering," she said, urging the public to recognize Cheng Hsiao-Wen as the official AI spokesperson of the Kuomintang.

Liu Tsai-wei emphasized that the four spokespersons will fight alongside AI spokesperson Cheng Hsiao-Wen, especially as election season intensifies. She expressed concern over the spread of rumors and smear campaigns, urging that while the spokespersons convey regional issues, they must also use proper channels to clarify misinformation and deliver accurate messages to the public.
