Today (the 8th) marks Father's Day. New Taipei mayoral candidate and legislator Su Chiao-hui released a Father's Day greeting card on social media, extending heartfelt wishes to all fathers worldwide. She also consolidated her past legislative achievements and future policy proposals for New Taipei City, presenting a comprehensive plan that supports fathers across generations—from 'expectant dads' welcoming new life, to 'parenting dads' raising children, and 'elderly dads' who have become grandfathers—covering childbirth, parenting, and long-term elder care.

Su emphasized that while every father strives to be the most reliable pillar for their family, fathers themselves also need support. She stated that the future New Taipei City government should not merely expect fathers to bear family responsibilities, but should become the strongest support behind them, using policies to alleviate the pressures fathers face across different life stages—childbirth, work, parenting, and elder care.

### No One Should Be Alone in Welcoming New Life: Triple Support for Expectant Dads

Su pointed out that while welcoming a child is a profound joy for 'expectant dads,' real-world pressures related to childbirth, employment, and housing often deter young families from taking the next step. Therefore, she has consistently advocated in the legislature for fertility and parenting resources, including infertility treatment subsidies of up to NT$150,000 per birth, extended prenatal check-up and paternity leave, flexible work hour reductions for parenting, salary subsidies, and job replacement allowances—giving parents more choices between work and family life.

Going forward, Su will promote a pilot program for 'Youth Parenting Housing,' allowing eligible parenting families to rent for up to 20 years. She also plans to expand newborn screening programs and subsidies, reducing the initial financial burden on families and ensuring young couples feel supported in being able to 'have children, raise them, and live comfortably.'

In response to Taiwan's declining birthrate, Su stressed that the government must do more than just encourage childbirth—it must genuinely reduce the burden of raising children, so parents don't have to choose between career and family.

### Supporting Parenting Dads: Three Major Family Care Initiatives

For 'parenting dads' currently raising children, Su previously secured a NT$100,000 subsidy per newborn and extended parental leave eligibility up to age six. Moving forward, she will advance three major family care initiatives. The first is a 'Corporate Team-Up Program,' where the government will proactively match businesses to jointly establish childcare facilities. If a company incurs losses in the first three years of operating such a facility, the government will subsidize 50% of the deficit, lowering the barrier to corporate involvement.

Additionally, Su plans to launch nighttime childcare services and establish a temporary childcare referral platform. This will help shift workers, late-working parents, or families with sudden childcare needs quickly access suitable care resources, ensuring a robust support system behind parents juggling work and family responsibilities.

### From Caring for Children to Caring for Dad’s Dad: Upgrading Elder Care

For 'elderly dads' who have become grandfathers, Su proposes a 'Care for Dad’s Dad' initiative, extending support from health and medical care to long-term care.

She plans to implement dental prosthetic subsidies of up to NT$50,000 for seniors aged 65 and above, ensuring better chewing ability, nutrition, and quality of life. Subsidies for residential long-term care facilities will increase from NT$180,000 to NT$240,000 annually. She will also expand emergency overnight care capacity and provide temporary stay subsidies, helping families manage sudden caregiving demands without panic.

To address the care gap when elderly patients return home after hospitalization, Su will strengthen discharge preparation services, ensuring home care and assistive devices are connected swiftly and seamlessly—preventing families from scrambling for resources after discharge and reducing caregiver burden.

Su stated that beyond saying 'Happy Father’s Day,' real support must go beyond words. She emphasized that the subsidies and achievements she secured at the national level will be transformed into comprehensive care policies for New Taipei residents.

She stressed that every life stage—from expectant father to parenting dad to aging father—comes with unique responsibilities and pressures, and the government must be there to catch them at every critical moment. She envisions the future New Taipei City government as the ultimate 'support teammate' for every dad, ensuring no father has to carry the family alone, and every generation receives complete,安心 support.
