Moderate Typhoon Dolphin continues advancing toward the seas north of Taiwan, with today (August 8) and tomorrow expected to be the peak periods of influence from its outer circulation. Regarding public concerns about potential work and school suspensions and disaster preparedness, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an addressed reporters ahead of chairing the first Typhoon Dolphin task force meeting.

Although observations indicate that the typhoon’s wind field is gradually shrinking and showing signs of weakening, Chiang warned that heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds could still affect mountainous areas of Taipei. He emphasized that the city government will continue preparing thoroughly under the principle of 'expect generously, defend strictly.'

According to the latest meteorological team reports, Typhoon Dolphin’s wind radius has shown a gradual trend of contraction and stabilization over the past few hours. Nevertheless, due to its outer circulation, Taipei will remain under primary impact from today through tomorrow. Mountainous regions, in particular, are expected to experience localized torrential rains and strong winds, meaning disaster prevention efforts must not be relaxed.

To comprehensively monitor preparedness, Mayor Chiang visited the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) this morning and presided over the first task force meeting. He personally listened to preparedness briefings from various city departments. Chiang reiterated the importance of maintaining a 'expect generously, defend strictly' approach when facing typhoon threats. The city government will continuously monitor the typhoon’s trajectory and changes in wind and rain intensity, ensuring all flood control and emergency response measures are fully implemented to safeguard public safety.
