Cabos Group (1269) held a board meeting yesterday (7th) to approve its financial report for the first half of 2026. Benefiting from steady growth in its Taiwan operations and improved operational fundamentals in mainland China that restored profitability, the group’s core business profits surged significantly.
The group’s consolidated revenue for the first half reached NT$2.37 billion, a 6.62% year-on-year increase and a record high for the same period. Operating net profit rose 215.68% to NT$90.65 million, while net profit after tax reached NT$8.586 million, with earnings per share (EPS) at NT$0.42, turning profitable compared to a loss in the same period last year.
Taiwan operations grew by 9.4%, with both dining and off-premise sales driving revenue
Cabos attributed its return to profitability in the first half to stable earnings from its Taiwan business and improved operations in mainland China that resumed profit contributions. However, due to changing market conditions in its UK operations, the group recognized asset impairment losses under conservative accounting principles, which impacted net profit for the period.
Taiwan operations generated NT$2.019 billion in revenue during the first half, up 9.4% year-on-year, also a record high for the period. Boosted by holiday gatherings, Mother’s Day dining demand, and increased consumer spending linked to active stock markets, both the restaurant and off-premise sales businesses grew in tandem, becoming key drivers of the group’s revenue growth.
Brand optimization succeeds: 'Hei Mao Wu' new store becomes top performer
In its restaurant business, Cabos has expanded operations through brand optimization and store expansion. The first half saw the completion of the 'Cabos Yakiniku Izakaya' brand overhaul and the optimization of the 'Takagi Wagyu Dining' brand, with upgraded products and services driving higher customer traffic.
The 'Hei Mao Wu' Taichung Hanshin Intercontinental store, opened in April, performed exceptionally well, quickly becoming the brand’s highest-revenue store. The 'Gyutan Yūsuke' brand, launched at the end of last year, also maintained strong performance, continuing to contribute to group revenue—demonstrating that brand optimization and new brand expansion strategies are delivering tangible results.
With summer vacation and Mid-Autumn Festival peak seasons approaching, how will Cabos position itself in the second half?
Looking ahead to the second half, Cabos is optimistic about the summer dining season and the Mid-Autumn Festival sales period, expecting continued growth in family dining and youth consumer demand. Recently, 'Cabos' launched a business lunch menu, 'Lao Cabos' introduced a new menu, and 'Hei Mao Wu' rolled out seasonal hot pot offerings—aiming to capture festive consumption opportunities through new products and marketing campaigns.
Store expansion will also be a key growth driver in the second half. In August, 'Hei Mao Wu' will open a store at Dream Mall in Kaohsiung, establishing a dual presence in northern and southern Kaohsiung. In the fourth quarter, the group plans to open two additional 'Hei Mao Wu' stores and four 'Gyutan Yūsuke' stores in key commercial districts including Taipei’s Nanshi and Yongkang Street. In total, six new stores will open in the second half, further expanding revenue scale.
Cabos stated it will continue to leverage brand optimization, new product development, and expansion strategies to capture peak dining seasons and festive sales opportunities, sustaining momentum for growth in the second half of the year.
