On July 30, 2026, Taiwan's Interior Minister Liu Shih-fang, accompanied by National Police Agency Director-General Chang Jung-hsing, held a press conference announcing that the Chinese Unification Promotion Party (CUPP), led by 'White Wolf' Chang An-lo, had been found to be collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party to establish organizations in Taiwan and engage in cross-border repression. Party members have repeatedly violated the National Security Act, the Cross-Strait Relations Act, and the Election and Recall Act, severely threatening national security, social stability, and electoral integrity. The ministry plans to file a petition with the Constitutional Court in early August to dissolve the CUPP.
Deputy Minister of the Interior Ma Shih-yuan stated that the CUPP has assisted the Chinese government in cognitive warfare and grassroots infiltration in Taiwan, introduced Chinese capital into elections, and attempted to silence Taiwan's democracy through cross-border repression. With rising pressure from China, he emphasized that taking action against the CUPP is essential to deter such activities from continuing on the island.
While the public in Taiwan sees this as the DPP government targeting Chang An-lo, a far more powerful force has been closely monitoring him. U.S. authorities have already launched an investigation into the 'gangster boss,' suspecting that the CUPP, under his leadership, engaged in 'harassment' against former President Tsai Ing-wen on U.S. soil. But this is not the only reason—there are deeper concerns prompting high-level U.S. officials to directly contact Taiwan's classified intelligence agencies.
